I’m sorry. Why is this a warning?

Social justice is for all humanity.

By Gregg Zoroya, USA TODAY

The 11.2% jobless rate for veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and who are 18 and older rose 4 percentage points in the past year. That’s significantly higher than the corresponding 8.8% rate for non-veterans in the same age group, says Labor Department economist Jim Walker.

Hmmmmm since it’s posted on the Archdiocisan website and uses really big letters 🙂 I am not sure how this is keeping anyone in the dark.

And your other post about veterans doesn’t seem related to the OP. Do you have more information that would put this in context?

Warning: money you give to your diocese might actually be used to help implement the gospel as interpreted by your bishop. Warning … Warning …

What is the problem? Immigration reform to prevent separating families is a good thing.

I can think of only one reason why the OP is so concerned about this.

Hey, JBuford, did you use to have a member ID here called “Bullfighter”?

That guy kept coming up with new accounts as fast as they banned them.

I’m concerned about this too. I don’t support illegal immigration.

Consider these points:
  1. The Church has a mandate from its founder to care for people in need (if you do it unto the least of these . . .) which is the basis for its social policies.
  2. The Bishop represents the Church’s point of view, not that of the US government nor any political party or pundit.
  3. US immigration law as it is now (selectively) applied has the unintended effect of breaking up families in OTHER countries by attracting men (especially) to come to the US, legally or otherwise, for paying work with the intention of sending money back home. It’s not uncommon for these men to stay in the US and start new families, often abandoning the family back home. So, family breakups can happen BEFORE deportation. And the current “unreformed” immigration laws set up the dynamics that drive it all.
  4. A poster such as the one you linked to is necessarily vague on particulars.

Illegal means NOT LEGAL. It’s pretty simple. What laws are we going to follow? Can we pick and choose? That is just anarchy. If the lawbreakers don’t want to be separated from their family, the family can go back too. We have the right to safe borders!

Let’s be clear: the church does NOT teach illegal immigration as acceptable. What the church teaches is REFORM OF THE LAWS to something that streamlines the immigration and naturalization process. Those are two entirely seperate situations.

Don’t the Bishops present the Bishops point of view? They haven’t asked their congregations what they think. Why not?

The answer would always the same. Don’t reward criminals!

For point number 3. What gives these people the right to do what they are doing? Why are Hispanic politicians, who have taken an oath before God to protect all US citizens before lifting a finger to help foreigners, breaking that oath? Why is the American Catholic Church placing the welfare of illegal immigrants ahead of the US citizens.

Why is the Catholic Church using its power of deciding what is “right and wrong” against the American people.

No one is deliberately attracting foreigners to the US accept those countries who seek to destroy its principles. Are you in favor of letting the mob rule this country.

Do you support the US Constitution as interpreted by street gangs?

It’s my money and I will give it to whomever I please. Whether it’s a beggar on the street or a fund at my church or a cake sale.
