In the later 1970s we were adrift. Many in the Church had forsaken the simplicity of the Baltimore Catechism, and those who were taught religion wallowed in the wasteland of other people’s opinions. Fr. Hardon’s Book was a beacon of hope for the time; however it did not go over well with the religious elite that wanted more of an anything-goes attitude. I am thankful for Fr. Hardon. As for the CCC, I welcomed it with open arms. It is the normative Catechism for our times. For those who chose not to follow it, they have to meet their maker, the same as all of us.
