Muhammad did exhibit symptoms that could very well be classified by neurologists as epilepsy or some other condition outside the supernatural, viz, he often broke into cold sweats, his face would become flushed and he would often become panicked or unable to sit on his camel. The surviving literature describes Muhammad hearing the ringing of a bell, as is often the case with
Tinitis. Muhammad, while in this ecstatic state would also report the presence of Gabriel; and, that Gabriel even
greeted Aisha during a visit. I find it odd that Gabriel would be speaking to a person who he should have known could not hear him. That in itself isn’t *necessarily *incoherent, unless we compare these alleged revelations to those found in the Bible in which case we find stark differences more in line with the famous Oracle of Delphi, et al. I don’t think the case is settled, but far from over.
