While admonishing the sinner is a work of mercy,
you must remember that most people are not faithful, practicing Catholics
nor do they purport to be.
St. Paul told us that he wrote to us (the church) not to have anything to do with
The World, not meaning at all having nothing to do with those who do not practice the Faith, for, as he put it, then you would have to get off the planet , or “out of the world.”
No, he said,
I wrote to you to QUIT MIXING IN COMPANY WITH ANYONE CALLED
A “BROTHER” (in Christ!!!) WHO IS A FORNICATOR, AN ADULTERER, A THIEF, IDOLATOR, BLASPHEMER, ETC ETC ETC, NOT EVEN SO MUCH AS EATING A MEAL WITH SUCH A MAN (OR WOMAN, not to leave the ladies out!!!), FOR HE WHO EVEN SAYS SO MUCH AS A GREETING to the wicked Christian BECOMES A SHARER IN HIS WICKED WORKS (although this second half, about not even saying a greeting to the wicked Christian, is from a different apostle and refers to Christians who teach FALSE doctrines and false moral teachings).
Riding in the car with worldly people doesn’t fall under any of these above condemnations, unless these people are claiming to be faithful Catholics while blasting obscenity and immoral filth on the car radios. THEN you can call them on it, because that is scandalous.
By the way, the apostolic COMMAND (not request, but COMMAND) to have NOTHING TO DO with Evil, disobedient, false-teaching-embracing-or-promoting Catholics, should give us all pause. The Holy Spirit hasn’t changed. Are we supporting Catholics for public office who flout church teachings? Are we sending donations to fund these disobedient, heretical Catholics’s campaigns?? If so, we are (no way around it) SHARING in their wicked works and FINANCING their spreading of apostasy, for which the LORD will, most definitely, hold us accountable. We simply cannot do that and be in friendship with God.
Another thing to check, if you have any doubts, is if any religious society to which you belong is, in fact, in dissent and/or PROMOTING dissent from Catholic teachings.
I belonged to a Saint Jude League that is Claretian run, out of Chicago. But these priests and brothers, this order, also publish a magazine called U.S. Catholic.
Well, I had heard bad things about this mag and the order which publishes it, but didn’t believe it, until, for two months straight now, I have read the online editions of it. It publishes blasphemous, horrible articles, even ones wherein commentators DARE to claim that THE HOLY SPIRIT is behind the move to have men marry other men !!!
Can you imagine a Catholic magazine publishing horrific, demonic “doctrines of devils” like this trash? I wrote to the order, demanded to be removed from their Jude league, and demanded them to go thru their donations records and write me a check for EVERY LAST DIME that I have ever given them (and they HAD BETTER comply with that demand).
The reason these things make me so angry is that I came from a liberal denomination, and attended liberal protestant churches. 25 years ago, I visited an orthodox ELCA Lutheran parish, enjoyed the service, and picked up a copy of The Lutheran from their literature rack (the ELCA’s magazine then). First article was an interview with a female “priest” with (of course) a very mannish, marine-type haircut, no makeup, etc., all the trappings, you get the idea, and I said (as it turns out accurately), UH-OH, THIS denomination is Apostasizing… Well, 25 years later, the elca’s pronouncements have proved my 25 years ago fears 100% correct. The Claretians’s US Catholic magazine is doing the same things that were being done in the lutheran magazine 25 years ago: promoting homosexuality (the active lifestyle), disobedience to the magisterium, STILL shilling for the ordination of women, you name it, they publish articles in favor of it.
They are trying, thru this mag, to lead Catholics into open apostasy.
Anyway, I digress (though validly!!). But no, you did not sin by not raising cain about the bad music being played. Next time, you might say, you know guys, I find that offensive, can you change the radio channel??
