Also, Isaac, if it makes it any easier, invincible ignorance definitely doesn’t belong to a Catholic who chooses, out of laziness, to leave the Church and find some “other route” to God.

Having been exposed to the One True Faith, you have a responsibility that cannot be shrugged off for an excuse that “well, some other religion is probably easier.” That is why we must pray especially fervently for those members of our families who have left the Catholic Faith as they are in a unique and desperate position to be needing intercession and prayer.

There is only one way to Heaven and that is through Christ and His Bride the Catholic Church. In spite of what our modern society/teaching would have us believe invincible ignorance is the exception and definitely NOT the rule. It sounds harsh to some, but it also makes it all the more necessary for us to stand by the Truth so that we are not responsible for leading others astray through our own watered-down beliefs.

The false and violent religion called Islam. It is expected that everyone in the world submits to their beliefs, by force if necessary.
In many muslim countries muslims who think about converting are executed or jailed.

why is this so important to you?



isn’t the better question… “what is the truth?”

who cares if it’s mandatory if it’s false?

but if it helps, the Catholic Church teaches that it has the fullness of truth and that everything else has a lie in it. It also teaches if you leave the Church you’re putting your soul in danger.

If there is a contradiction in a teaching, wouldn’t one or the other statement be a lie?
Aren’t there contradictions in Catholic teaching?
Example- Vatican II vs. Florence
Vatican II Declaration, Nostra Aetate (#4): “Although the
Church is the new people of God, the Jews should not be
presented as rejected or cursed by God, as if such views
followed from the holy scriptures.”

Council of Florence, Bull Cantate Domino, 1442: “…the holy Roman Church, founded on the words of our Lord and Savior, firmly believes, professes
and preaches one true God, almighty, immutable and eternal, Father, Son and Holy Spirit… Therefore it [the Holy Roman Church] condemns, rejects, anathematizes and
declares to be outside the Body of Christ, which is the Church, whoever holds opposing or contrary views.”

Pretty clear cut contradiction to me; Vatican II says that Jews, people who hold opposing and contrary views, should not be presented as rejected; Florence on the other hand says the exact opposite, that anybody (anybody includes Jews) who holds opposing or contrary views are rejected.
One council says one thing and the other says the opposite.
Wouldn’t that make one a lie or not the truth.

Whilst one may be able to plead ignorance at their judgment it is the mission of the church to preach the gospel to every creature. Christ commanded this just before he ascended. There are tremendous benefits to being catholic. You learn the truth, have the opportunity to become free from sin - no longer a slave, you receive Gods greatest gifts to man - the sacraments and the commandments, you receive so many blessings it’s not funny and eternal life if you listen to the church and do what it says. They and us benefit immensely from us preaching the gospel and them hearing it. This mesage is the most important message anyone can hear and Christ commanded us to make sure everyone hears it. Then when we hear it we have to make our choice.
