Was The story of Noah real?

There’s no research I know of that claims mountain ranges grow in centuries or even a few thousand years. But if you have a citation, do provide it

This has nothing to do with atheism.
I don’t want to get off topic.
That may be true. But, it is definitely based on a lack of faith in a loving God who will provide for us.
The governments of the world are constantly trying to create laws and taxes based on cyclical solar cycles. Back in the 80’s they were telling us global cooling was immanent. Then it was global warming. Now it’s global climate change. They never mention the fact that the Mars ice cap is melting. That would blow their entire control scheme.

It has nothing to do with a lack of faith. Geologists in the 18th century began gathering data that showed the earth was far more than a few thousand years old.

And no one in the 1980s thought global cooling was imminent. By the 1980s warming was already well enough understood to debunk a pretty minor claim made in the 1970s

Even if the study reflects reality, it does the flood myth no good whatsoever

I grew up in the 80’s and I recall them talking about an ice age that could take place soon.

Then you can find citations in peer reviewed and primary literature from the 1980s to that effect

Rush Limbaugh mentioned it last week. I didn’t take note of the source.

Is there really any problem with the Flood being local? Back then, a local flood would have seemed to have consumed their entire world. Noah was real, and so was the flood, but not how fundamentalist Protestants would have you believe.

Color me unconvinced. And if the likes of rush Limbaugh is the source of your science information, then I see a problem

Is there a reason why Noah had to think that is was global?

It would make sense for him to believe that the entire world was being flooded. He wasn’t all-knowing. All he knew was that his home was going to be destroyed by a flood and God wanted him to save his family.

I have seen the source. I don’t recall where it was. It was involved with some kind of college research and then the news agencies ran with it trying to shock every one… There were also magazine articles back then. I was actually looking forward to some cooler weather. Darn It!

Yes. I remember the heated debates. Reagan laughed at it. We don’t have a long enough record of global climate. There is evidence that the entire world was once tropical. And what about the Mars ice cap?

I am not making any long term plans to visit Mars. The status of the ice cap there is critical to some of my favorite Science Fiction stories.
