I stated a sin in confession and the Priest asked me “was this on one occasion” In a quick reaction I said “yeah” only to quickly realize that it may have been committed more than once- Father started talking and I said (under his voice) “im sorry several times” But I dont think he heard me because he continued talking as though I said nothing. Anyways as he talked it completely slipped my mind.

The reason this troubles me so much is that the sin was of offensive thoughts, that 1: is hard pin weather I really dwelled on them to make them a sin, and 2: is hard to tell how many times I really did.

I know that this sin is mortal.

I am a fighting Catholic and I go to confession quite often (sometimes several times a week) and its kind of humiliating but I offer it up and I want to be in Gods army but I fall often.

If I were to receive no advice I would believe my sin is forgiven.

Yes, this confession was legitimate, so don’t worry about them. If it continues to bother you, let the priest know when you go to your next confession.

When I went to my second confession, I mentioned to my priest the sins I forgot to tell him and he interrupted me by saying that those sins are forgiven and that the only one holding on to them was me.

So, don’t worry about it. 👍

wow marceleonidas from what you say i think you’re amazing and i totally envy you.
We had a forum yesterday about someone scared to go to confession and i gave advice then decided i had to go myself and promised i would on saturday.
Most people find confession once or twice a year a struggle but if you go several times a week i don’t think you have anything to worry about regardless of what was said or not said.

I wish i was more like you :o

We are obliged to confess mortal sins (if we should commit such) in number and kind and circumstance that would change the sin --like it was your brother you murdered). Number can be approximate according to what we know – if we do not know the actual number.

(doubtful “mortal” sins on the other hand – it can be advisable to confess (noting they are doubtful in some way) for most…but for those who scruple --it can be often advised to address such with a “regular confessor”)

It would seem to be perhaps then a case of “forgotten” mortal sins (if they were) …
One would confess them in the next confession.

Thank you all very much! I definetly will (try) to remember to confess what I forgot and that I forgot it.
@ Albany; Thank you very much, it means more than you know.

Just a slight correction, I was confessing venial sins, no mortal sins from the past! You are required to confess mortal sins that you remember after last confession.
