Thank You.

That’s wrong. Its NOT a sin watching a nude scene in a movie.Today, I watched American Beaty movie. It’s had a short nude scene. It is a sin that I saw it.

Even if it was an accident and you did not know there was a nude scene coming up, you can decide to indulge in the images after they are on the screen. I try to look away or just hit the chapter skip button on the DVD remote. But let’s say there is a 20 second nude scene in a movie that I didn’t know was about to happen. If it comes on the screen and I lustfully watch all 20 seconds of it, would you all agree that that is sinful. Not knowing that a nude scene is in a movie is not a free pass for you to indulge in it when it comes up on the screen. We have to do our best not to look at images in a lustful way, nude scene or not. That’s wrong. Its NOT a sin watching a nude scene in a movie.
What would be a sin would be if you knew in advance about the scene, went to see the movie specifically to watch that scene with the intention of getting sexually aroused and dwelling on the impure thoughts arising from that.
Next time you want to watch a movie, check out a good Catholic movie reviews site such as the following first:
I must say that I do not like the USCCB or Decent Films reviews (I am not familiar with the other). They often fail to include moral problems with movies and they are, in my opinion, very loose with their opinions on age appropriateness for movies. That has just been my experience, though.
I guess you meant venial? But don’t worry, if you did commit a sin, you only committed a mortal sin because you did not have full knowledge as is evidenced by your asking this question here.
I agree. They gave very favorable reviews to Brokeback mountain and other extremely objectionable movies. The reviews characterize the artistic merits and entirely ignore the moral side. I could get better moral guidance from my local newspaper reivews. They really need to get a new person to do their review.I agree with Holly, that it probably wasn’t a sin if you weren’t expecting it. Hopefully you didn’t watch any of it and immediately skipped past it. You should be very careful of what you watch. Movies (especially if we watch movies quite often) have a definite effect on the culture and the individual person.

Has anyone noticed that this post–by a poster with only 2 posts, does not ask a question or invite a response? It is more of a declaration of opinion or a confession. I don’t see any of the responses (including this one) as beneficial in any way.Today, I watched American Beaty movie. It’s had a short nude scene. It is a sin that I saw it.

What do the scriptures tells you?? If your eye offends you…pluck it out! (OK, OK…just kidding) LOL!Today, I watched American Beaty movie. It’s had a short nude scene. It is a sin that I saw it.

I don’t think so. I love action movies, and I also know, when the director yells cut, everyone gets up and eats lunch.Given the current discussion - I’d like to attain an answer as to whether you guys believe it is a sin for someone to go and see an action movie for its pure action content. Therefore the individual knows the movie will be based around action where the majority of it consists of killing, guns, explosions etc. And obviously the individual goes to see this action movie because the action satisfy’s him\her and offers enjoyment.
Yes it is wrong to deliberately harm one’s health.I was in a garbage can for a minute and I got some pretty stinky
garbage on me. Do I smell? Is it wrong for me to be in a
garbage can?
