You’re still not getting this. Do you understand that Jesus is the Judge. He is the one that determines who gets into Heaven. As for children, He demonstrated on earth that children are allowed to come to Him. “such is the Kingdom of Heaven”. Jesus will allow them in. He told us that if we want to enter heaven, we have to be like them.

Jhn 10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.

Jhn 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
But you keep telling us “ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Over and over, you’ve said “all means all.” Which is it? If you admit that babies have no personal sin, then you admit that not ALL human beings have committed personal sin.

You are trying to say babies going to Heaven means they are sinless. They are not without the sin of Adam. However, Jesus paid for that sin on the cross. And, Jesus is the Judge and will let them in. He said “forbid them not, such is the Kingdom of God”

And yes, all mankind has fallen short because of Adam.

Now, as adults we choose to sin so we must repent and become like little children.

Let’s list the places where we agree. Correct me if I have misstated your view.

We agree:
  1. Original sin is inherited by all people (eg Rom. Chapter 5)
  2. Nothing unclean can enter heaven (Rev. 21:27)
  3. Since nothing unclean can enter heaven, sin (including original sin) somehow must be cleansed from a person in order for them to enter heaven;
  4. Jesus atoned for our sins by His finished work on the cross;
  5. This cleansing atonement isn’t automatically applied to everyone; rather, it must be claimed in some way. For an adult this cleasing requires faith and repentance.
Are we agreed on all of those propositions?

Adam’s sin is inherited by all people.

Yes, Adam’s sin is paid for with Jesus’ blood.

Here is the fork in the road.
Adam’s sin is paid for when we turn to Christ in faith by believing the Gospel of Jesus (includes His commandment of love), and repenting

You believe this atonement is by water baptism.
  1. Jesus atoned for our sins by His finished work on the cross;
Yes

Christ’s atonement is automatically applied to babies and little children.

Sorry… I gotta run again

Sorry… gotta run. I was in a hurry and couldn’t reply quite the way I wanted so I deleted the post.

That belief negates God’s Grace. You are telling people that the only way to receive the gift of God is to go thru the Catholic church and by a priest in water baptism. That’s not what His Word says.

You’ve added work to the Grace of God by thinking a man must apply it or distribute it. God doesn’t need your religion or your religious stuff to bless people with His grace. Then it wouldn’t be grace at all. And definitely not a gift. It’s just arrogance to think your church can do this.
First (and I think I’ve said this before), nobody here denies that God has the power and does save people without baptism (water baptism, that is).

Second, if God doesn’t empower the sacraments, then they are empty works. God doesn’t need them. Just like he didn’t need the fiery serpent he told Moses to make. The healing that God gave people through that serpent was not a gift from the serpent - it was a gift from God. It is not for you to question why God might do things that way. Scripture demonstrates that He does. End of story.

I’m still eagerly waiting for that proof of the Trinity from the Bible alone. But then, I’m beginning to wonder if you think that my posts aren’t worthy of a response.

Of course not. He didn’t have to. That’s why he sent ministers into the world.
To add to your point Nazianzen,
This might be able to go under the theology of Vocations maybe. Jesus came for a different reason than for him personally to baptise and stuff.

No too sure though, not a smart guy after all.

Godbless,
chris

You forgot something:
Jhn 3:16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him (and those who have not reached the age of accountabilityshould not perish, but have everlasting life.
And yet we know that, even though belief is the foundation of it all, there is more involved than mere belief.

Romans 8:15-17: For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the spirit of sonship. When we cry, “Abba! Father!” it is the Spirit himself bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

Hey God, you’ve contradicted yourself. - Member of the Catholic Church.
Guess you aren’t familiar with that critter called the hyperbole. So when Jesus says we should hate our father and mother, he really means we should HATE them, huh? That we really should pluck out our eyes and cut off our hands?

It’s just arrogance to think your church can do this.
You do realize that we in Catholicism have another authority besides the Bible, and that authority tells us that sanctifying grace is conferred in water baptism? You have to understand this if you intend to have a meaningful discussion with anybody. Every one of your interpretations of various Bible verses are just that - your interpretation. In every case, your interpretation has been one of many possible interpretations.

What we’ve had thus far is someone saying “this verse means x” and you turning around and saying “no, it means y.” We could go on to infinity like this. And I’m sure that we could round up some good, God-fearing protestants who disagree with you about any number of points.

Don’t bother with “the Catholic interpretation contradicts scripture.” 2,000 years of history say otherwise. If you want to defend sola scriptura, fine. But do it that way. Don’t ignore the fact that we recognize two infallible authorities on earth.

Let’s get this straight. I was a cradle Catholic and remained Catholic for 36 years and come from a long line of Catholics. I even attended CCD as a child. I also grew up with Catholics in a state divided into parishes. Please don’t tell me I don’t know Catholicism.
I’m telling you that you don’t know what you are talking about and that you don’t know the Word of God and that you don’t know what Christians have taught and believed for 2,000 years.

What you do know is a lot of out-of-context cherry picked Bible quotes that you have been deceived into believing is what the Bible teaches, when in fact just reading the New Testament proves that that is not the case.

Be mad if you want to. Be incensed and offended if you want to.
But for the love of God don’t be so gullible as to believe what you have been taught by someone with a Bible in hand whose been telling you that the Word of God says something that it does not.

1st Peter 3:21: Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Acts 2:38: And Peter said to them, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 22:16: And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’

Argue your heart out…but the Word of God refutes you.

It doesn’t empower water baptism.
I find myself puzzled about why you would deny the grace of jesus emparted through water baptism. What would be the purpose of such denial?

Acts 22:16 – Ananias tells Saul, “arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins.” The “washing away” refers to water baptism.

Titus 3:5-6 – Paul writes about the “washing of regeneration,” which is “poured out on us” in reference to water baptism. “Washing” (loutron) generally refers to a ritual washing with water.

Heb. 10:22 – the author is also writing about water baptism in this verse. “Having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” Our bodies are washed with pure water in water baptism.

The spirit does wash us during baptism, and we are cleansed from sin, and we are regenerated.
You do realize that Jesus NEVER water baptized.
On the contrary, I realize the opposite!

John 4:1-2
4:1 Now when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John 2(although Jesus himself did not baptize, but only his disciples),

Jesus is the one who makes and baptizes His disciples. He uses His apostles to accomplish that work. However, He works in and through His apostles to infuse His disciples.

Or do you think that He allowed his disciples to perform baptism “against” His will?

Do you think the Holy Spirit was allowed to write these words “jesus was making and baptizing” if it is not true?
That belief negates God’s Grace.
I think here you are talking about baptism, and believing that it is sanctifying negates God’s grace? No, it is God’s grace poured out through the HS at baptism that makes it effective.
You are telling people that the only way to receive the gift of God is to go thru the Catholic church and by a priest in water baptism. That’s not what His Word says.
Actually, the church does not now, nor has ever taught such a preposterous idea.
Jhn 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Eph 2:8
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God:
Yes, and if we believe in Him, we will acknowledge and follow his authority, by which he commands us to be baptized and observe all that He has commanded.

Matt 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you…”
You’ve added work to the Grace of God by thinking a man must apply it or distribute it. God doesn’t need your religion or your religious stuff to bless people with His grace. Then it wouldn’t be grace at all. And definitely not a gift. It’s just arrogance to think your church can do this.
I guess this answers my question above, where I expressed being mystified by your refusal to accept Jesus teaching about baptism. I guess you refuse to accept it because you don’t percieve that it is His command, and you don’t understand that through obedience to His holy commandments, we exprerience His grace. You are right, though, God needs no religion to bless people, or any “stuff”. However, He has called us to obey His teachings, and that, in doing so, we will find eternal life.

I can also understand how it might seem like arrogance to believe this, but Jesus really did say these things, and Catholics really do believe them. It is an amazing thing that God has chosen to use the simple things of this world, like water, and the frailty of human beings to be channels of His inexpressible grace.

Part of the above is the reason.

Believers must first admit even after 36 years, with schooling and everything, he still would not open his heart to Christ and was an unrepentant sinner. It is easier to believe that Christ was never in the Catholic Church than to believe that he just never heard Christ knocking.

As well as admit that he truly does not understand what the Catholic Church teaches. And since Believers does not even understand or admit that the Sacraments are tools in which God confers Grace, he clearly does not/did not understand the basics of Catholicism. Some never are able to get past their pride and humble themselves to admit they are/were wrong.
