Well it wouldn’t be a lie unless I knew it was incorrect. Of which I do not. I do acknowledge our disagreement. Why would anyone want to say “come home to Rome” even if that where coming home to Jesus? Why not give all the glory to God? To Jesus? And just say. "come home to Jesus?

I guess my point being that even if it was one in the same…why not give all the Glory to God?

For clarification,** I do not believe coming home to Rome is coming home to Jesus**. I do believe that people who are or join the Catholic Church want to come to Jesus, but miss the mark. Just my opinion so nothing big. 🙂

Anyway, off topic so my apologies.
Malachi, we meet again. It appears you have put on your “fundamental attitude” again.

You really are trying to play on words here aren’t you?

You are at a point in your life right now where I was in late 1999. I can tell because you are talking and acting the same way. You need to really sit down with a Devout Catholic - perhaps call Catholic Answers and ask for an apologist. You have spent the last few years being a protestant and hearing all the untruths, lies and ignorant statements about the Catholic Church. You now know that we are not this Church that you spent the last few years bashing and in fact I think you are starting to even believe that this could actually be the Church Jesus Christ left for his people. But…now you are looking for excuses. You do not want to really believe this could be true.

You may not even realize you are saying these things but I asked you months ago to stop coming on this site and attacking because it is not nice and some of us will bite back. You keep saying the same anti catholic things many of us heard for years…it is not new to us. I really need you to understand this.

If it is true that Jesus established the Church, then coming home to Rome is coming home to Jesus.

Stop Lying to yourself!!!
Stop coming on this site to Subtly Catholic Bash!!!

Hi Mastda, it is true that the last few months I was confronted with issues that I either needed to discredit, disprove or…accept. These issues I have come to peace with and subsequently I am again more confident in my “not being a Catholic”.

Anyway, I am not Catholic Bashing in the least. Just responding on this thread more in defense of this TV propgram and its founders. That is all. I just acknowledge that most will not agree with me because of the theological differences. I have no, that is none what so ever, desire to Catholic bash. Why would I?

I love Catholics. I do not believe the RCC is the “true church” but I love Catholics. I have no reason to bash them.

So then have you decided which is the true church? Jesus only left one.

Well, the truth is that Christians are commanded to point out one another’s sins so long as they have their own in check.
EXACTLY! The problem with their show is they are pointing out NON-Christian’s sins. Jesus always “preached” at the Pharisees etc. When true sinners came to him, they were told to go and sin no more, not preached at.

Jesus said to make disciples of all nations and teach them all that he commanded. A disciple is a learner. And Jesus commanded lots of things. I would think these two guys should invite the people on the street to join them in studying the scriptures. But I’ve only seen the show a couple of times and maybe they do invite them to study at the end and I’m wrong.

Hello Mastda; well I accept the word “Ekklesia” being translated “called out ones” or “assembly” or “congregation” as opposed to “church”.

So, based on that, no denomination need be defined. I myself am not a Greek Scholar by any means, but do accept the various arguments in support of this position.

Hi Della. I must say you sound like a feisty lady. Feisty enough to commit assault…please don’t knock anyone flat with your purse… 🙂
Yes, I’ve got a “loaded” purse and I’m not afraid to use it! 😛
I was baptized, raised and confirmed Catholic, partaking of confession, communion etc., and do own and read the Catechism of the Catholic Church, thank you. So your clairvoyant abilities does lack in the “fact” department. 🙂
:o So sorry, I confused you with someone else. Along with being fiesty I seem to be in my dotage–don’t the two often go together?
They do not do it by any “authority”; all the people that are approached on this show are asked permission to be asked questions, they volunteer their answers. Perhaps they just like to be on TV. I do recall seeing one lady attack Ray Comfort, she went ballistic…maybe that was you?
Well, what I meant is they have no mandate to be prying into people’s lives with questions about their sins. They aren’t Father confessors with the charism of absolution, are they? And you’re so right about wanting to be on TV. People these days will tell an emcee their most intimate secret sins for all the world to hear but they can’t understand going to tell them to a priest. What’s up with that?
Just trying to add some “forum” humor that I have observed on the various threads. A little arrogant, with a touch of humor,. I am learning. 🙂
Please don’t take me too seriously, either. I’m learning, learning all the time! 😉

. . .or standing in line to see a “The Largest Bull in the West” at the county fair. I kid you not. Poor guy in back of us was being hounded by some kid who wanted to save him.

In Christ,
I know just the kind of kid you mean. You can’t beat them off with a stick! 😛 How did the poor guy being hounded by him deal with it?

The Greek word ekklesia, which is translated church, is a combination of the Greek word kaleo (which means to call) and ek, a preposition meaning out or out of. Therefore, ekklesia is properly translated as “called out ones”.

Hi Della, your responses brought a smile to my face, thank you. Don’t lose your fiestiness. 😉

In my own opinion, and I too am a Catholic,
I feel and believe that Kirk Cameron is a thoroughly sincere, God-fearing young man. I don’t think his approach is the best approach, but that doesn’t mean that nobody has been led to Christ by his method. Still, I wish Cameron were Catholic and leading people to the Gospel in all it’s Catholic fullness.
At least he has the courage of his sincere convictions, and I admire him for that.

“You are Peter and upon this Rock I shall build my “called out ones” and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”.

Malachi, please come on! You are really starting to frustrate me. Nothing you say makes sense, nothing at all. You are just grasping at straws and getting a whole lot of mixed up information from someon

Also, Jack Van Impe!! Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese!!! Very intrigung to listen to but mixed up theology.

Lets try…congregation. 🙂 OK lets say it says “church”…The English word “church” has various meanings. Webster gives the following definitions for the word church.
  1. a building for public Christian worship. 2. a religious service in such a building. 3. (sometimes cap.) a. the world body of Christian believers; Christendom. b. any major division of his body; a Christian denomination. 4. a Christian congregation. 5. organized religion as distinguished from the state. 6. (cap) a. The Christian before the reformation. b. the Roman Catholic Church.

He is the only public fundamentalist that I am aware of that calls Catholics, “Christian” and refers to them as “Brothers”. So that alone should give him some credit within Catholicism.

Yes, “called out ones” would not be the word for word translation in this particular verse, but more towards the “meaning” of the word. 🙂 😃

👍

I still do not see how ONE is many. God is ONE and not many. Marriage is ONE and not many. The Body of Christ is ONE and not many. There is very detailed information in the New Testament about what, where and how the ONE Church is to be. There is not one single verse that says for the Body to be splintered into different factions based on single fundamentals. Although there is mention of apostacies and such, which do you prefer to be among? Those who are the apostacized? When you make claims that the Church IS but many who are in the Body of Christ, you definitely make it clear that you are justifying the apostacized. And to be completely candid, I am very certain that just about every single member of the protestant Churches have a bit of a upset feeling in their gut when they picture the amount of splintered churches. They cannot explain that feeling away, but rather hide it in statements justifying the factions.

Is anybody aware of an early Church father claiming that the Church has fallen away and that the fallen Church took on a new name known as the RCC?

Basically, aren’t they are simply going through the 10 commandments and asking people if they’ve done any. If they have, they’ve sinned and need to repent. They aren’t pointing the finger, but rather letting it up to the person to examine themselves and decide.

The point is we all need to examine ourselves, we all need to repent and need forgiveness.

They are planting seeds. God will provide the increase.

1 Corithians 3:4 -7
Whenever someone says, “I belong to Paul,” and another, “I belong to Apollos,” are you not merely human? What is Apollos, after all, and what is Paul? Ministers through whom you became believers, just as the Lord assigned each one. I planted, Apollos watered, but God caused the growth. Therefore, neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who causes the growth.

Mark 9:38-40
“Teacher,” said John, “we saw a man driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.” “Do not stop him,” Jesus said. "No one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us.

Humbly.

Interesting…i havea question:
if two people are walking down the road and a bullet is fired at the first…do we have an obligation to jump in front of the bullet???

anyway, it is importan to have a defense, I dont like just saying because the Church says so…I want to know the reasoning behind it. I know my peers in my ethics class will not accept authoritarian reasoning…🙂

there has got to be a good defense for this position…

I get your point, but I do not think so. Not in the fundamental circles I am involved in. First they believe the RRC has fallen so so far, the victim of Satan…in all its…well you heard it before. The other denominations, same thing, some hold on to a bit of the RCC and have not cleansed themselves enough. Anyway.
Is anybody aware of an early Church father claiming that the Church has fallen away and that the fallen Church took on a new name known as the RCC?
Well, if they did they were classed as heritics…regardless if they were right or not. For me, I still do not see the clear claim to be the one true church. The Mormans claim it. The JW’s claim it. The Orthodox claim it. Satan is clever. I am just on my guard. 🙂 As a Catholic all my life I never, ever heard of “Euchrist Adoration”. Too me, that is way out there. Is that “new”? Or a new terminology?

Malachi, you see here is where you need to get all your information right in order not to upset us Catholics when you post.

If the Roman Catholic Church is not the Church Christ left us and if it is not Jesus in the Bread and Wine at Mass, then there is no reason for us to be Catholics. This would make the Catholic Church to be a phony institution. These were 2 of the 3 issues I had to completely and without a doubt be sure of before coming back to Catholicsm from Evangelical Protestantism and the Word Of Faith Movement.

Life as a protestant was pretty good. All I had to believe that Jesus was my Lord and Saviour and that was it. If you disagreed with a certian way a verse was interpreted you just look for someone who interpreted it the way you like it. If I disagreed with a pastor I just found another church. If I didn’t like the teaching in a church, I just found another church. In fact if I didn’t even have to go to church. I would just turn on TV and watch televangelists, after all I was still being fed? Holy Communion, that was wafer worship, Jesus did not really mean that. The only thing that mattered was if you had a personal relationship with Him.

So the decison to become Catholic for all of us converts and reverts is not an easy one. You have to overcome these 2 obstacles and that is tough. You know come to think of it being a devout Catholic is pretty tough. It is not for the weak and the faint of heart. It is for the intelligent, strong and determined prople as it so much easier to not be a Catholic.

Also, can you stop saying you were a catholic. You were only one in name only, you never studied the faith or knew what Catholics believed or you would of not left. I am determined to be your nemesis on this site as you spew off unthruths and make silly ideoligical claims.

Hi mastda, you will never be my nemesis because I love you.

I had a big long reply, but I deleted it. You claiming I was not a Catholic. That is wrong, incorrect, and inapproriate. As I was. I value no name to reflect my love and obediance to God.

Nonetheless, I still love you masta and you will never be my nemesis.

Give me a quick chronoligical timeline of your life right now, highlighting your years in the Catholic Church and the years you left the Church. Then give me a description of the conversations you had with a Catholic before you left the church and why you chose to leave it.

Write out your long answer, the more you write the more holes are I see in your stories. BTW, Stop this love stuff and answer this question.

Do you still believe the Catholic Church is a heresy?
