The world has changed so much since I raised my daughter in the nineteen seventies and eighties. With computer access, television and a general trend towards relativism all promoting immorality at every turn, how can we best keep our young people from these harmful influences? :signofcross::highprayer::harp::flowers:

I say, close community and family helps. Setting a proper example is worth more than any number of words. Kids have so much available to them that I think they either come out much better than they used to, or much worse. Just depends on which path they go down.

Homeschooling.

Friday, advent and lenten abstaining, and family prayer.

Lots of physical and family playtime.

What you do, do it together as much as possible.

If you don’t homeschool, help with their homework and make the kids help mom and dad with their work, even if its just a little bit (they can visit mom or dad’s office and help put away papers, clean the computer screen or the glass on the desk, stuff like that).

Let them bring their friends, and include them too.

Totally Agree.

You know its sad today because The Family Unit used to be the Cornerstone of Society.

I’m not so sure this is true today, at least in comparison lets say 50-70 years ago.
After the two World Wars in the last 20th century everything in morality went sour.

Start with the family and link them together

True, but look at the influences of things run amok in sociey today that denigrate the role of family life. Marxist feminist theory is rampant in Universities. It says that the nuclear family meets the needs of capitalism for the reproduction and maintenance of class and patriarchal inequality .It benefits the powerful at the expense of the working class and women. That’s what you must fight against.

Greetings Kathryn Ann,

We cannot change others. To have the best effect on society that we can have, we must start with ourselves first. When we change, then others will note and perhaps change as well.

We should live our lives to where there is not doubt or question as to what our vaulues are.

God Bless.

👍

I read a great bumper sticker at church yesterday. It said “The truth is still true even if nobody believes it.” The truck also had a “Deus Vult!” sticker:D

It would be great if more people thought like we do. However, we lead by example. The Roman legionaries - tough, battle hardened warriors who fought counteless battles all over the known world - were put to shame by Christian women who willingly entered the arena to face the lions.

If we hold fast to our traditions, we will bring back the lost sheep!

This reminds me of a joke from “Radio Armenia”:

"Our listeners ask: “are Soviets permitted to kiss in Red Square?”
We answer: “Yes, they are allowed, but should be prepared for a lot of advice.”

The Marxist approach to family, like the Marxist approach to everything, correctly identifies the problem, and completely botches the remedy. Like a bad doctor, whose only remedy is amputation.

Marxists see the problems with modern familes and propose abolishing the family altogether. Feminists see the problem, and propose replacing one bad husband with an infinite number of them!

The Catholic replies, no, the cure for what ails the family is to add more members to the family, but add them vertically, not horizontally. Add brothers, sisters, down the tree, add uncles, aunts, grandparents up the tree. No need for more wives than one, or more husbands. In the family tree, make the roots deeper, make the crown broader, but keep the vines off the limbs.

The answer to both the feminist and the marxist is the same: How much more time will you give me with my wife, my children, and our extended family? Say, give me 20 more hours a week. Cut my taxes by 50% to make up for the loss in revenue. Plus, with half the labor, unemployment will disappear and the balance between the number of people and the work to be accomplished will be restored. You will see miracles!

Then sit back and listen to them howl.
