We are living in the end times..or is it just fear of our own mortality?

First let me begin by saying that I believe in the Book of Revelations and I do believe in the return of Christ’s kingdom. I do not know the date or the hour but I feel confident it will return however I don’t think it will be in my lifetime(27 years old).

I notice especially among the older crowds(especially protestants,which was how I was raised) they cling really close to Revelations as if they fear their deaths or feel that they are above the physical demise and that the time of the Kingdom will happen before the die.

Am I wrong in feeling that there is so MUCH arrogance attached to people like that. Since The Revelations was made public everyone has said all through out history that the end is near,the end is near. Maybe it is, and maybe by human standards it is another 5,000 years.

Applying my limited human knowledge let me say that if the rapture happened tomorrow wouldn’t it look weird in the day and age of CNN,MSNBC,FOX,Facebook,Twitter…etc,etc.

Most people I know who aren’t even Christian are familiar enough with the book to know what’s happening. I believe that I have read that around 33% of the world is Christian, let’s say that out of that percentage only 50% are really saved and not just providing lip service.
Wouldn’t it be apparent the situation to the rest of the world at this time if 15% of the world vanished.

I do not claim to know when it will end, not even the angels know…However my theory is that another religion or even atheism(more likely) will need to take a stronger hold and for Christianity to head more in the direction of obscurity and much lesser in prominence for it to happen.

Sin is great in the world, then again hasn’t it always? With the inventions of the internet and mass news coverage everything is already amplified. Natural disasters have always happened but back in 1776 we didn’t have global coverage of it with the News. My point is that Jesus will return but I feel too many Christians harp on it, instead of focusing on The Gospels.

Finally I feel that all the talk of 'END IS NEAR" over and over again throughout the years hurts our credibility as witnesses to the truth of The Gospels. I believe in teaching Revelations in the Church but I also feel it has deterred many from the faith in the long haul.

‘Jesus will one day return, and one day the world will end’ sounds much better.

The ironic thing is all the Christians that want to be in the end times will wish they weren’t when those times come.

Before Jesus comes again it will be the worst time in history to be a Christian.

First of all, there isn’t any rapture.

The rapture did not exist as a doctrine until the 1800s. The teaching forms no part of the Catholic Faith.

Second, while believers in the rapture may cling to it in fear of their bodily death (something I wholly relate to!), in the absence of a rapture, bodily survival is unlikely in the extreme, due to persecution and natural occurrences.

Although those alive at the very end will escape death, it is not anything any of us can sensibly aspire to.

For one hundred (20 year) generations now, the end times have amounted to each individual’s last breath. This is what we must focus on, as it is guaranteed each of us. But, when? Innumerable men and women have failed in their predictions of the parousia, just as Christ prophesied. However, if we should see our Lord coming on the clouds of heaven, then it is time to stand erect with our heads held high, as our Salvation draws near.

Just as with letting our yes mean yes and our no, no, I think that reading anything more into the scriptures comes from the evil one. Bearing Christ’s words in mind, I do watch the sky more than I used to…
