This is the real problem and one which the AB will hopefully rectify. He’s simply got to familiarize himself with the notorious dissenters of his diocese. He can’t keep saying that he doesn’t know.

If even half of this is accurate, then the Blessed Sacrament and all sacred relics need to be removed from the building, it should be burned to the ground, and the ashes sown with salt.
That’s nothing that should be sanctioned, or even tolerated, by the Catholic Church. The bishop and priests should all be removed and placed into a cloistered monastery (and possibly undergo exorcism) in a remote area to do penance until they come to their senses and learn what the Catholic Faith is all about.
My revulsion, disgust, outrage, and horror know no bounds.

Sad thing is IMO this AB will do nothing. Look at his track record. Sadder, I bet Rome does nothing. The gay influence and who knows what in the church is too great. One of the main reasons why I left. The former SF AB was poor IMO. The new one is worse IMO if that is possible. Appointed by Benedict…

I live in the Bay Area. This stuff at HR went on under Levada - now a high Vatican official - and continues to go on with the Pope’s replacement for Levada. But heck, I left the church a while ago because this stuff went on even under the orthodox JP2. I can’t believe he had no clue. Sorry.

I’m sure they knew something was up but canonically you have to have more proof then letters from the faithful. This is why the internet and technology is so beautiful. It’s far easier to give them proof and in a hurry. So many of these guys can talk a good talk. Until they get caught in living color, some of these guys can look pretty good to people who don’t have feet on the ground.

Wanna bet Neiderhaur is not removed/reprimanded? Despite the new technology that “caught him”. That will tell you all you need to know about shephards. JMHO. I’m not Cathlic anymore. I think the lack of action by the Vatican on this should give you pause for thought. Again, JMHO.

I hear you rien. I cannot imagine what it must be like to be Catholic in SF, although being a New Yorker I have some sense of it. Your reaction is understandable given what little I know about the situation there. But, think about separating Church teachings from Church people and clergy. Public sinners in high ranks are nothing new. At some point the scale gets tipped if you let it, but you may want to think about what you’re putting on the scale to weigh. God’s love and wisdom to you brother.

I just watched The World Over on EWTN and it was reported that this group hosted pornographic films and displayed sex toys at their “bingo parties” in the parish hall. I haven’t read all of the threads on this post, but if this is true then that parish and its people are really in need of help and/or extreme intervention.
Might I suggest that the faithful in that area gather in front of the church and pray the rosary as a group. If we can gather in front of abortion clinics it seems to me this parish is in need of almost as much correction.

But srp, the Bay Area is no backwater. Almost 8 million folks. Number 4 behind Chicago and catching up.
This heresy went on under JP2 in SF and Benedict appointed Levada, who is almost as bad
IMO, to a top Vatucan post. Then appointed Neiderhauuser to the Bay Area.
What am I to make of that?.

I honestly think you should look at “truth” outside of just Chritianity. I found the SSPX wanting and have left Christianity alltoghere.
Read about Islam. Not what right wing radio tells you. What Islamic sources tell you.
The Koran is so more - what can I say - holistic.
No blur about “truth” - works vs faith or both. Why is Scripture so hard to understand! The Trinity which is not explicit in the Bible - let’s be honest.
I am not saying Islam is the truth. I am saying if you are discouraged you need to look futher than the SSPX. Be bold and consider non-Christian faiths.

Shouldn’t the Archbishop act in the same manner whether he is being taped or not? The scandal is not that he was caught on tape, it is that he gave Holy Communion to members of SPI dressed in drag. If he would have changed his actions according to the knowledge that they were being recorded, doesn’t that imply that his actions were suspect?
This way he was caught doing exactly what he was going to do without any chance for him to cover-up.
The decision the Archbishop had to make was really not difficult at all. Why would he care if he upset the SPI? The Archbishop serves Christ and the Church, not a heterodox homosexual activist group.

IMHO, Niederauer was a courtesy to Levada. Also, IMHO, the SF faithful didn’t fight hard enough for an orthodox replacement like we did. I do think that the next AB will be vetted a lot more and hopefully resembles AB Burke.

As bear said, don’t do it. The Enemy wants us to leave, to weaken the Holy Church. When the Church is united and full of faithful Christians then it is strong. Division, as we saw with the rise of Protestantism, weakens Christianity in our fight for God’s truth.

If a bad bishop, or even a mass number of bad bishops justifies leaving the Catholic Church, then the Church died a long time ago. Donatus, Arius, Nestorius, Eutyches and so on.
It is tragic we have this scandal in the Church of course, and one hopes that the evidence is put together in a way that will bring about action.
But what is it to be Catholic? Is it to have saintly bishops in all dioceses? Or is it to be in communion with the Church founded by Christ and served by the successors of the Apostles?
Yes we have had immoral and lax bishops in the history of the Church, and these bishops have caused definite harm to the Church. We have them now. And tragically we will have them in the future, and some will be scandalized and leave the Church
Yet we do not consider those who left to be saints, but those who stayed and were faithful to the Church even when some of the shepherds were unfaithful.
Christ promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against the Church, but he also warned that there would be scandals

Since when do the Catholic hierarchy promote this type of activity in Catholic Church parish halls? Is this something new since Vatican II? Perhaps the Catholic teaching on this has been changed since the second Vatican council?
