We Catholics Are Dead Sure The Church Is The One Church Of Christ And That All Others Are Mistaken

Well, everyone can have an opinion. Glad you won’t be in charge of such things. And btw…you may support OTCA all you wish of course, but do you not feel just the teensiest bit guilty of encouraging that which is ultimately harmful to your own Church? I get messages from folks and got one recently from a RC who is considering leaving the RCC because of the unbecoming meanness exhibited by people like OTCA. I counseled against such action based upon a few fanatical types here. But I repeat, are you helping the image of the RCC by this? Most of us think not, but of course, your losses appear to be our gains, so continue if you must.
Spiritmeadow, I don’t think so. No one would leave the church Christ established because of a few remarks made here…come on now, you can do better than that…sounds like your getting desperate…for every one who has sent you one message, I’ve gotten several from others who praise my defense of Catholicism. Sorry you don’t like it.

You have introduced the concept of stupidity. Frankly it would not occur to me that you were stupid. Your posts belie that. My remarks merely reflect the truth that everyone’s opinion on what they consider truth is often different, and no one can prove theirs is more truth than anothers. We all have opinions. There is no arrogance in saying that I don’t claim truth no more than any human can. It is impossible. Perhaps your being tired prevented you from reading what I said in context. Blessings, and get some rest! It has been a long and busy Pentecost after all. 🙂
Another post of Spiritmeadow’s name calling…🤷

First of all stop screaming at me.

Secondly, you have given the “pat” answer, all the time ignoring the real problem. Would you really want on your conscience that someone left your church because of your behavior? Right or wrong, that makes you a contributing factor. I would seriously rethink my behavior under such circumstances. Apparently you think, good riddence to such people. Send that response on to the Vatican and see what response you might get. Heck, send it to your parish priest.
You are an extremely manipulative person Spiritmeadow. I hope others here have caught on to this.

no… what i know, i know… What i belive, i believe… There is a BIG difference…

for example… some would say that i believe Jesus is truly, tangibly present in the Eucharist… but I don’t say that… I say I KNOW He is… I have spent time with Him There in the Church… (wish i was there now)…

I do not believe the RCC is the true Church… I KNOW it is… I’ve studied history (sacred and profane as they used to say) and Chruch teachings.

Plus… well, i have been a human being for quite some time now… know what it is to live outside the Church… uncatechized… and now know what its like to be IN the Church… 🙂

In other words, I’m no spring chicken… I’ve seen it all… (virtually)… been through it all (virtually)… I Know what is truth (about morality)…

I have OPINIONS, on the other hand… about history…

One opinion being that it was NOT pretty… and we humans ought to be ashamed to be called such…

thanks be to Jesus, who saves us from our ugly fate… (of being human)…

Actually, its like this:

I KNOW history was NOT pretty… that is a fact (if i can believe even a fraction of waht i’ve read & I’m 99% sure i can)

An example of an opinion would be:

I think the French Revolutuion was designed, almost in its entirety, to destroy the Catholic Church… (silly mortals…)

:rotfl:

desparate about waht?

is he trying to hold onto old beliefs that don’t “fly”???

The Reformation is relevant today and the reason for it because of those that live in a false reality that all the fault rests on the reformers.
I never said the Reformation was not relevant. The polemics of the 16th century, however, are not relevant. The Catholic Church has clearly stated that there is fair share of fault to go around, and I agree. The finger pointing must stop, though, if Christ’s call for unity is to be fulfilled.

😃

Yes I know what you are saying. It is wonderful that anyone can believe to a degree that they have no doubt whatsoever. Wish that everyone could be so blessed in faith. However, you do admit no doubt that such Knowing as you have is not subject to objective proof. If that were the case, no doubt there would not be a single solitary non-RC in the entire world. Others you see, do disagree with your version of truth, and so far, your Church has not convinced them. I am not saying you won’t turn out to be right. You may well do so.

Somehow some few RC’s feel this is some attack on them to say what is obvious from purely logic. No human can KNOW since they are alive and in faith. Faith is that, it is belief without the luxury of actual knowledge. The fact that many of us are convinced beyond any reasonable doubt that we are correct doesn’t really change anything.

And I am no spring chicken either, as you say. Again, bless you for your deep faith. Many could learn from it no doubt.

Now let’s stay on track on which why we are **Dead Sure **the church is the one true church founded by Christ…ooh Spiritmeadow just hates hearing that…
Anyway, in the Nicene Creed, which is accepted by most Christians, the Christian church is described as being “One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic”. These are known as the four marks of the church. The Catholic church is the only church with which we have these four marks from Jesus Christ.

DearOTCA. I can understand why the only possible answer you can give is to accuse me of being a liar. Facing the other possibility is not possible is it?

You can throw out terms such as desperate, but then you must explain what in the world I would be desperate about?

I believe you when you say that some here do praise you methodology. I have seen them with my own eyes.

And do these terms not apply to Eastern Orthodoxy?

i appreciate that you appreciate my faith (assuming you are not lapsing into sarcasm here? :D).

Yes, i know i cannot prove my faith… i wish i could because people are missing out when they don’t have what i (RCs) have… (knowledge of the Real Presence) .
that were the case, no doubt there would not be a single solitary non-RC in the entire world.
the reason (one) that there are not more RCs in the world is because the RCC does not do a good job of teaching even her own members the faith. I had to find out on my own… such things as scriptural evidence for the concept of Purgatory… etc… this is the one criticism i have of the Church (other than the fact that there are so many … hypocrites There , myself included). :banghead::hypno:o
Others you see, do disagree with your version of truth
No kidding!!! :ouch:
The fact that many of us are convinced beyond any reasonable doubt that we are correct doesn’t really change anything.
no kidding… but that doesn’t make me any less sure… I don’t believe i would be a Christian… if it weren’t for my experiences w/ the Real Presence… Yes, i love the words of Scipture… and now i think about it, i WAS a Christian before i had knowledge of the Real Presence (experiential knowledge) … but i was not a very strong one… and i didn’t understand many things back then… suffering…what it means, why God allows it (still don’t really understand that one…) and etc… etc…
And I am no spring chicken either, as you say. Again, bless you for your deep faith. Many could learn from it no doubt.
my faith had better be deep - it is all i have…

but it is also all i need… everything else in the world is … well, virtual rubbish… (doesn’t last, etc…)

God bless you also… sorry if i offended… didn’t mean to…

The Catholic Church should be all inclusive of all faiths. These same old arguments get to me because Jesus was for all the world. If you believe the Catholic Church is right and others are wrong, so be it.But I think the point you are trying to make can be a little gentler. My wife and I were married in the Lurthern Church. I know in my heart our marriage was blessed by God.We Christians should not be wasting so much energy on splitting hairs or saying who is right and who is wrong. Just maybe if we look at the beauty in each others Church we would convert alot more people. Just my two cents.😉
Good afternoon! A few thoughts:
  • Inclusive to all faiths - Absolutely NOT!!!
  • Non-Christian faiths - those that believe in abortion, killing the innocent, degrading women? I disagree and more importantly I think you do too.
  • Other Christian Denominations - Sure, to a point that it still reflects the teachings of Jesus Christ as passed down through the Apostles to the Bishops and later put into writings that were decided, by the Church, to be the inspired Word of God, the Holy Scriptures.
  • I think what you mean though is not a theological inclusiveness - but one of character and virtue on the foundation of truth. It is to that end that the RC Church is just that - It offers the FULL truth to all of man kind who is willing to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
  • The Arguments you refer too
  • Yes there are theological disagreements because Sin has splintered the Body Of Christ
  • This is because most people are after the truth - they sincerely believe that they are following the truth and want to share that with others
  • To diminish this to “splitting hairs” does not honor those who are seeking truth as Jesus Christ calls us all too!!!
You are right, Jesus Christ is for all - but few can accept Him because He calls us all to conversion. This conversion makes demands on out lives that make us very uncomfortable. I live a missionary life, nothing like many people in the US and they complain about the economy and this and that about not having enough money. Yet they have Cable, soda pop, and junk food in their homes and go out to eat - a lot. Yet, there are several charities, parishes, etc… that are in need of support to spread the Gospel. All are called, few are chosen. It’s easier to pass through he eye of a needle than to… You ge tthe idea.

I used to be Protestant. There is much beauty there and if we RCs would look at their beauty - their desire to learn and understand scripture, to evangelize, to support the church, then us RC’s would truly be a light to the world. Right now we’re just a night-light! We (RCs) need to be doing it better and pay heed to the call that Jesus Christ has placed in each of our hearts.

I’m confident that you and your wife are great disciples of Jesus and I appluad your faith and hope that it rubs off on many Christians. God bless you and your valid marriage!

you don’t know much about Luther, do you?
Distracted,
He’s a Lutheran pastor. He’s probably forgotten more about Luther than you’ll ever know.
I think it is safe to say that, when it comes to Luther, he is much more of an expert than you, or me for that matter.

Jon

Christ has ascended!

Yes, this is most true. However, I do not think OTCA’s pride will allow her to admit such a thing, although the Latin Church admits this calling us “sister Churches.”👍

Andrew

Catholics:

Don’t worry. I am not holding Catholicism responsible for the words and attitudes of a few Catholics on this thread. I pray that non-Catholics here will not, either.

Christ have mercy,

O+

Furthermore, Protestants are brought up with the idea that it is not possible for any human being to locate the True Church.
Jesus knows who his True Church is…it is made up of all individuals who trust in Him.

You can be assured that The Church that Christ built never murdered or tortured.

Jesus knows his true church is the one he established, the Catholic church. Are you saying that Protestants never killed or tortured anyone? Sure you want to open that can of worms? The Catholic church went to much extremes to guide and safekeep not only the faith, but the bible as well. Even if it meant to excommunicate the Reformers who were heretics.

Pride? It’s called contentment. Content that I am in the church Jesus founded.
