Our longtime, and faithful little schnauzer was just too sick and we unexpectedly had to put him down this afternoon. My wife and I are beyond crushed.

Any prayer is much needed and appreciated, and we hurt so bad.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle, be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil, may God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do you, O’ Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into Hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.

Amen.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.

Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.

Amen.

For Help in Trials

Most holy apostle St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the name of the traitor who delivered your beloved Master into the hands of His enemies has caused you to be forgotten by many. But the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hopeless cases–of things despaired of. Pray for me who feels so hopeless. Make use, I implore you, of that particular privilege accorded to you of bringing visible and speedy help where help is almost despaired of. Come to my assistance in this great need, that I may receive the consolations and succor of heaven in all my necessities, tribulations and sufferings, in particular (punisherthunder), and that I may bless God with you and all the elect throughout eternity. I promise you, O Blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, and I will never cease to honor you as my special and powerful patron, and to do all in my power to encourage devotion to you. Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Mental Peace

O Lady of Mental Peace,
Mother of Tranquility
and Mother of Hope,
look upon punisherthunder in this time
of weakness and unrest.

Teach her searching heart
to know that God’s Love
for her is unchanging and
unchangeable, and, that
true human love can only
begin and grow by touching
His Love.

Let your gentle Peace -
which this world cannot give
  • be always with her.
    And, help her to bring this
    same Peace into the lives
    of others.
Our Lady of Mental Peace,
  • Pray for us!
    Amen.
Jesus, Help Me!

In every need let me come to You with humble trust,
saying:
Jesus, help me!
In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations:
Jesus, help me!
In hours of loneliness, weariness and trials:
Jesus, help me!
In the failure of my plans and hopes, in disappointments,
troubles and sorrows:
Jesus, help me!
When others fail me, and Your Grace alone can assist me:
Jesus, help me!
When I throw myself on Your tender Love as Savior:
Jesus, help me!
When my heart is cast down by failure, at seeing no good
come from my efforts:
Jesus, help me!
When I feel impatient, and my cross irritates me:
Jesus, help me!
When I am ill, and my head and hands cannot work and
I am lonely:
Jesus, help me!

Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls and short-
comings of every kind:
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, help me and never forsake me!

Amen

I’ve had to put down many a dog over the course of my life. Each time I had to, I bore an uvbearable grief. The one solace that I have had of the years was a belief that St. Francis of Assisi (I believe the patron saint of pets) would be taking care of them until J joined them. Throughout the course of my life I have put down 12 pets (sometimes I’ve kept as many as3.

Eventually I would make my way to a shelter and look for senior dogs that have fallen on hard times. Each time I felt that my animals would not like to see me grieving and stop taking care of these creatures.

I hope and pray that in the passing of time you will open your heart and home to more companions.

Hi punisherthunder,

I am so very sorry for the loss of your beloved dog.

It’s so very hard to lose a dear pet.

Prayers said for both you and your wife.

May God comfort you in your time of sadness and sorrow.

May God bless the both of you in your time of need.

We have a special bond with our dog friends which gives them a kind of immortality. My childhood dog has been gone for more than twenty years but I still think of him pretty much every single day. He lives on in my happy memories.

I know how hard it is. I’ll say some prayers for you and your wife.

Prayers for you in your grief …

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Thank you all so much.

We are under such a staggering amount of grief. I’ve already thrown up six or seven times and my wife cries until she’s numb.

Please someone tell us this gets easier. Again, we had him before we got engaged, all the way up through us getting married too.

I wish I could tell you that is does get easier, but it is only manageable and would be worse yet without my faith. I pray for the repose of these beloved animals material souls and I do so based upon the following research I did after we also buried a dear little friend.

Try not to mourn so much that you forget the many blessings and joys that he was to you guys. Let his passing not overshadow the wonder that you all shared in his life with you.

Material soul.

Taken from Catholic Answers (Catholic.com)
All living creatures – angels, humans, animals, plants – have souls. However, there are two kinds of souls: spiritual and material. Angels and humans have spiritual souls. Animals and plants have material souls. Something that is spirit is not subject to the decay of change. Thus, angels do not die and human souls survive the separation of body and soul at death. Material things however are subject to change, thus they are subject to decay and death. As animals and plants have material souls, at death their souls cease to exist.

Whether God will choose to re-create animal and plant souls at the end of time when the material universe is transformed (cf. CCC 1060) is something we do not yet know. However, the Church does not teach that animal and plant souls are “disposable” in the sense that they are of little consequence and can be wasted if humans wish to do so. Animals and plants do not have inherent rights, but humans, because they are appointed by God to be just stewards of nature, have a responsibility to be kind to animals and prudent in using the world’s natural resources. See the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
Code:
      The seventh commandment enjoins respect for the integrity of creation. Animals, like plants and inanimate beings, are by nature destined for the common good of past, present, and future humanity. Use of the mineral, vegetable, and animal resources of the universe cannot be divorced from respect for moral imperatives. Man's dominion over inanimate and other living beings granted by the Creator is not absolute; it is limited by concern for the quality of life of his neighbor, including generations to come; it requires a religious respect for the integrity of creation ([**CCC 2415**](http://www.scborromeo.org/ccc/para/2415.htm)).

What Spirits Are and What They Aren’t by Frank Sheed

My own Scriptural considerations:
  1. Code:
     Ecclesiastes 3:21 Who knows whether the spirit of man goes upward and the spirit of the beast goes down to the earth?
  2. John 11: 25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,
  3. Luke 20:38 Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living; for all live to him.
  4. 2nd Peter 3:13 But according to his promise we wait for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
  5. Code:
    Revelation 21: **1** Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. **2** And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband;
3 and I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling of God is with men. He will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself will be with them;
4 he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning nor crying nor pain any more, for the former things have passed away.”
5 And he who sat upon the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Also he said, “Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

Since we do not know for sure the end of the souls of animals (#1 above) and we know that Christ stated that he is “the resurrection and the life” (#2 above) and since Our Lord stated that all live to God, (#3 above), then we see twice in the New Testament where Christ promises a new Heaven and earth (#s 4 & 5 above) it seems logical that we may comfort ourselves in our loss of our beloved pet friends with a hope that we will see them again since animals cannot sin it seems more likely that God might resurrect them because of the blessing they have been to us in their lives.

Keep in mind that this is not a teaching of the Catholic Church, or anyone else, but nothing more than my own pious theory. J

I read in the e-book “demons, deliverance and discernment” by
Fr. Mike Driscoll that animals don’t have immortal souls, so just
try to remember all the good times you have had w/ your dear
pet, I pray, O Lord, that you will console punisherthunder and
his wife at the passing of their dear pet and that they will be
able to adopt another pet in it’s place. Amen.

****Please stop telling me animals don’t have souls and blah blah.

I come open-hearted looking for prayers to ease our grief and sadness. I don’t want put downs. God creates a new-heaven and new-Earth. Earth had animals, therefore the new-Earth will have animals. St. Francis would not have cared so much if animals were not important.

I’m so very sorry for the loss of your pet. Praying to St. Francis for your pet. Praying for you & your wife.

Praying for you and your Wife. Prayer of thanksgiving for the joys the animal brought to both of you . . . we humans tend to forget to say “thank You” to Our Lord. . . . 😉 🙂

Act of Hope and Confidence in God
Saint Claude de la Colombiere
:signofcross:
My God,
I believe most firmly that You watch over all who hope in You,
and that we can want for nothing when we rely upon You in all things.
Therefore I am resolved for the future…to cast all my cares upon You.
People may deprive me of worldly goods and status.
Sickness may take from me my strength and the means of serving You.
I may even jeopardize our relationship by sin, but my trust shall never leave me.
I will preserve it to the last moment of my life, and the powers of hell shall seek
…… in vain to grab it from me.
Let others seek happiness in their wealth and in their talents.
Let them trust in the purity of their lives,
the severity of their mortifications,
in the number of their good works,
the enthusiasm of their prayers,
as for me, my Rock and my Refuge, my confidence in you fills me with hope.
For You, my Divine Protector, alone have settled me in hope.
“This confidence can never be vain. No one, who has hoped in God, has
…… ever been confounded.”
I am assured, therefore, of my eternal happiness,
…… for I firmly hope in it and all my hope is in You.
“In You, O loving God, have I hoped: let me never be confounded.”
I know too well that I am weak and changeable. I know the power of
…… temptation against the strongest virtue.
I have seen stars fall and foundations of my world crack;
…… these things do not alarm me.
While I hope in You, I am sheltered from all misfortune,
…… and I am sure that my trust shall endure,
…… for I rely upon You to sustain this unfailing hope.
Finally, I know that my confidence cannot exceed Your generosity, and that I
…… shall never receive less than I have hoped for from You.
Therefore I hope that You will sustain me against my evil inclinations,
…… that You will protect me against the deceitful attacks of the evil one,
…… and that You will cause my weakness to triumph over every hostile force.
I hope that You will never cease to love me and that I shall love You unceasingly.
“In You, O loving God, have I hoped: let me never be confounded.”

Creator of all and source of all goodness and love,
please look kindly upon us,
as we ask for forgiveness for not giving You thanks.
Please receive our heartfelt apology for the lack of gratitude.
Remind us at all times that You are always worthy of our thanks.

Thank You, Heavenly Father,
for all the graces and blessings
You have bestowed upon us:
our faith and religious heritage;
the Priests who bring us the Sacraments;
our life, food and shelter;
our health, the love we have for one another;
our Police Officers and Firefighters who keep us safe;
our Soldiers and Veterans who fight and fought for our Country;
our family and friends.
Thank You for the people You so generously send us;
…everything You grant us

Dear Father, in Your infinite generosity, please grant us the grace of having
…less “give me” and more gratitude throughout the coming

…for You turn the “bad” into blessings for us.
Please Lord, grant us the grace of not forgetting that we can thank You
…over and over again for the same gift – and if we

👋 Luz María 👋
.
Thank you Luz.:)

If it would make you happy, God will give you back your dog because He wants you to be happy in heaven. I read where people who had NDEs saw trees, flowers, birds, etc. in heaven.

No, it doesn’t get easier. Every pet has a special place in your heart. When they die, it hurts.

I know your dog knew the love you had for him. I know the joy he brought you in his life. Love does not end. You provided a loving home for him. I miss my little pug even after 5 years. I anticipate him running up to me and being reunited in Heaven. You have my sympathy and I pray that our Lord, Jesus, will comfort you at this difficult time and bless you for having cared for one of His own.

Praying for you and your wife, I’m so sorry. Losing a dog is very hard.

However, remember that your little friend lived out his years happy and loved - and I’m sure he loved you too.

Thank you all for the prayers and kindness.

I believe 100% my wife and I will see him again. He will be on the New Earth that God creates.
