Yessir. Some of the (non-Malchus) prophecies (if they are to be believed–in this case I truly hope so) speak of him as reuniting Christianity.

I believe he chose his name to re-build the Church’s credibility.

As a humble and simple man, he would probably want to reorganize and rebuild the Roman Curia from the rubble that it is right now after VatiLeaks, Corruption scandals, and Abuse scandals.

I have been reading in various sources (all non-Catholic) that Cardinal Bergoglio (now Pope Francis I) has taken a “more moderate stance of contraception”, believing that it is alright to prevent the spread of disease. Can anyone validate or dispel that claim?

He did went to clean the feet of those infected by the AIDS virus.

He is really concerned with that issue.

I wasn’t overwhelmed by the elections of Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI, but I grew to love and admire both tremendously over the course of their individual papacies. I feel somewhat the same way today. I pray that Pope Francis will succeed as well as his immediate predecessors.

Oh I’m very pleased with what he has said, and what we know of his views. My concerns are more over priorities…from what I’ve heard, he isn’t much of one for the doctrinal or political side of things.

He is political back here in Argentina.

As a Catholic revert who watched the last as a Conclave from a non-practicing Catholic, the last two days have been simply AMAZING. The pomp and cirmcustance (for the lack of a better word(s)) following the white smoke and ringing of the bells was FASCINATING. To think that everyone invovled invovled had to go the second the white smoke was seen and to do it flawlessly was AWSOME!

From all the Jesuit priest I have known over my 48 years, this pope will focus on helping the poor, bringing people together, being humble servants to God and each other. Having Latin Masses will not be a prime focus, in my opinion.

To attract people back to the Church by showing them the example to follow!

Been looking this up and I can only find one source which says now Pope Francis is moderate on contraception and that is the Guardian. The Guardian gives no reference for this, so without evidence it is a baseless statement. Any other site that has mentioned him having a moderate stance has cited The Guardian as the source. All the other news sites say he is staunchly anti-contraception and they point out how he fought against president Cristina Fernandez when she promoted free contraceptives and artificial insemination.
