While my parish is having an open discussion on whether our local girl scout troops are too close to Planned Parenthood, Netflix just announced it would support abortions in Georgia and threatened to cease doing business in the State because of its recently passed abortion ban.

Sometimes I wish businesses would just be businesses, hire people, make products, pay taxes and shut the heck up.

I haven’t cancelled Netflix, and I’m not ready to so just yet because I cancelled cable long ago.

However, I’m starting to think about it more and more. But the issues are not unique to Netflix… it’s all of the television & film industries.

This is exactly what I was planning lately, however for different reason, namely: promotion of LGBT in series for kids produced by Netflix (for example Voltron, She-ra, Dragon Prince).

Do you think that more coordinated action is possible? If big enough number of people cancel subscription and send information to Netflix about reason, may it affect company policies? (I am probably over optmistic as usual)

Just like the rest of us, they get to choose where to do business and with whom.

Thus maybe we should not watch any of them…

In Roman empire Christians had not participated in lot of public entertainment, as gladiator fights.

Yes canceled Netflix and in the “Other” box I wrote that it was due to their support of abortion for me canceling.

Well, most big companies support causes against Catholic teaching: Netflix, Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, most of the cell phone and internet providers, many stores, many consumer brands…the list goes on and on.

Would you give up Catholicism if it cost you your job or even a pay cut? You have to understand that progressivism IS their religion. I am not being hyperbolic. Look at the evidence and it’s easy to see. Losing money and customers is not important if it means they can promote their agenda. Also if you boycott all left wing media and entertainment organizations then you might as well just throw out your television.

I was surprised to see 4 good “movies” on Netflix on each of the 4 Gospels. They were
well made. They weren’t made by Netflix, but
at least they offer religious programs.
Some of their content is good and some I don’t care for at all.

They also have great “Man for all seasons”.

If those movies were only available on Netflix, it wouldn’t be such a big problem for me. What bothers me is the fact that Netflix made those series - so by paying subscription I am partially financing it.

I’d love to cancel, but my wife is reluctant to do so. On the flip side, I use Amazon a lot, even though I hate the things Bezos donates to. I’ve tried replacing Amazon with Walmart, but they are nowhere near as good for several reasons.

Not really. Most of my shows have moved to other services. But it’s $7 well spent.
