Mr. Perry where I come from what you just did was put the shine on me, in layman’s terms your blathered me up 😉
like a rabbit running from the hounds you went looking for an escape route, its one thing to deny they happened but to give your church the credit for creating Universities, why Mr. Perry I’m not surprised you offer to bring evidence to the table do you think mine any less noteworthy. I’ve done a wee bit of research on this topic, 37 years of study, I would think twice before stepping into the ring and me with pages upon pages of evidence, but as they say, “If that’s your cup of tea” 👍
One shouldn’t state myths as if they are truths. The Catholic Church pulled man out of the dark ages via charity and science. During this time they started orphanages and hospitals throughout the known world. I assume that these “hellish” dark ages you speak of does not take into account the Church starting the university system and the concept of free thought. The forced torture I am supposing was the Inquisitions, as there were three that caused the death of an estimated 5,000 people. Although certainly not one of our better times it certainly doesn’t compare to Luther supporting the murder of 100,000 peasants. Most of these deaths were actually caused during the Spanish Inquisition that the Pope made a papal bull against. I do not mind individuals showing the times when a Catholic person failed and brought pain to this world. I would like the facts to be stated and generic myths not to be propagated.

If necessary I can provide sources for all of this information.

Please post your documentation with sources and I will do the same. If you have studied this for 37 years you will know that many sources are anti-catholic. I prefer to use secular sources when possible. You will also know that the dark age historians have uncovered many new truths in the last ten to fifteen years. Do you truly believe the Catholic Church is afraid of the truth? Many Catholics have failed; however, a great many have given the world fantastic gifts and enlightenment. Post away with sources and dates.

Let me just say this about that http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u298/hogndog/bf-wakeupyelll.gif

St. Ignatius “The presiding church in the place of the land of the Romans”
St. Cyprian “one church and one see founded by the Lord; voice of Peter. No other alter can be setup, no new priesthood be made, except the one altar and one priesthood. Whoever gathers elsewhere scatters…one church founded by Christ our Lord on Peter, by the source and reason unity.
Opatatus of Milevis statement to Donatist “How can you pretend to have the keys of the kingdom of heaven, who sacrilegiously fight against the see of Peter by your presumption and impudence.
St. Ambrose “Roman Church is the head of the whole world.”
Since it was stated that I was running from the content of the thread. I will re-post quotes from the early Church fathers. The early Church recognized a papal authority. St. Irenaus from the year 107 is quoted above. For those that do not believe in the authority of the Church how do you refute these quotes?

How does his idealogy connect to Papal authority?

I ask again how does one refute that they Early Church fathers recognized that the Bible gave the Pope authority over the Church. St. Iraneus just decades after Christ’s death ackowledges the Popes authority. He writes this in the same time frame as some books of the Bible are being completed. If the Pope doesn’t have authority why did the authority not change to John from Peter after Peter’s death. It is believe that John lived longer than Peter by many years. The people within the Church just after Christ’s death taught that the Papal authority of the Church existed. 1,500 years later a man that struggled with inadequacies in confession restated the faith and denied papal authority. Does that make sense?

What do I have to do get out my power wheel chair 🤷

We aren’t speaking to Papal Authority here Mr. Perry, now I have another question, why is it when we get on topic the first or second post attempts to derail it “Please see instructions”

“We Must Affirm that the Papacy is the Anti-Christ”
I thought that proving Papal authority would prove that the papacy is not the antichrist. Is that not the title of this thread?

Papal authority is a wee ways off the beaten path, its an all together different study on church structure. Could have maybe should have tittled this thread a bit differently “We Must Affirm that the Papacy by way of Papal succession has the Authority to be Ant-Christ”.

Well that is not even worth a thread. The Pope can not be the Antichrist by defintion of what the Pope is and the foundation of the Church.

I could lay all 37 years of research on the table I could heal the sick and many other miracles and you would still wag your head, times change people don’t.

🙂 Even if you are an angel who came down from heaven if your teachings are different from what the apostles passed unto us, Catholics, SORRY I WILL NOT BELIEVE YOU! Good day…

Your missing my point, there is a parallel here put Jesus in these circumstances, he healed the sick walked on water even raised the dead more than once mind you. He proved himself and the world still rejected him now say a bloke comes along offers irrefutable evidence, this world would still reject them. I say I have proof “So What”? I could lay it all on the table and we would still add page after page to obtain bigger and better evidence
Oh! Good day to you as well 👍

How do you do this with your posts. This is funny!
37 years? What is one point of evidence which supports the subject?

Actually, according to your Catechism, the heresy charge doesn’t apply to modern day Protestants. And also, according to the Catechism, they are still part of the Church by their Baptism (if validly baptized), though imperfectly.
I think that acording to your catechism that muslims are included in salvation as well. I believe that it’s #841.
841 The Church’s relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day."330

And yet, and yet, and yet another and yet… You have failed to provide one iota of “proof”. Just more obfuscation, and weak ad hominems…

If you could…heal the sick and do many other miracles… Why have you not? As they say: The proof is in the pudding. Christ healed the sick and performed miracles. Are you “equating” yourself with Christ?

Talk about treading where angels fear to go…

😃 😃 Who’s “shining on” who?😃 😃

Right now the only word that comes to mind about your post is: Obfuscation. Proofs please? Please limit said proofs to verifiable and accessible documents.

Did I hear you right, awe you wouldn’t nobody is that insane
I went there, took pictures, bought tee-shirts, sent post cards, and came back with tons of stories.

Jesus promised someone the Holy Spirit to guide them to all truths. That promise was not made to everyone, but to his Apostles, the leaders of the Church. This promise did not have an expiration date on it. The Church would be lead by the Holy Spirit. Individuals were promised the Spirit when needed, but not to lead but to comfort and aid. Jesus also said that the gates of Hell would not prevail against the Church. So, either the Church is lead by the Holy Spirit and Hell cannot win or Jesus lied.

In other words, if the Papacy is the anti-Christ, Jesus is a lier.

This happens quite frequently me being identified with Jesus, as well I should, I’m a Christian and belong to him. Now look what you’ve done you’ve gone http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u298/hogndog/offtopicsmiley1.gif
