The power we have is in God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit. Love, compassion, kindness, being non-judgemental of neighbors, friends, countries, others…refusal to put material things above God. These are strengths and true muscle.

Yet, those two things are not the same. An officer commander in a sovereign nation’s legitimate military forces is not a “lone terrorist”.

Qassem Soleimani
He was classified as a terrorist by the US. He was sanctioned by the United Nations. He approved of the attacks on the US embassy and was planning on supporting more attacks on diplomats.

He was classified as a terrorist by the US.
The guys who do the assassinations would so categorize their target, sure.
He was sanctioned by the United Nations
From my reading on this forum, the UN is not exactly held in high regard.

And a NY Post article? Sorry, tabloid op-eds are not exactly where I would go to give substance to my argument.

Our POTUS authorized this assassination. He has not denied “pulling the trigger” on this drone strike.

Maybe you should read the article before bashing it. It is a well thought out opinion piece.

You can think he isn’t a terrorist if you want. It doesn’t change the truth. It doesn’t change the point of the argument…thousands of innocent deaths is greater than one

?? By lone terrorist you mean a senior commander of Iraq’s military, Major-General Qassem Soleimani?
Only a terrorist would plan innocent civilian attacks. Could you imagine a General anywhere in the civilized world planning an embassy attack to kill ambassadors etc? That’s dirty, underhanded, and It’s terrorism.

I wish that Iran doesn’t need war (Im Lebanese Maronite) but sometimes, I feel it may be necessary. Iran is a country of persecution and millions live under an evil regime of Islam and its proxies who sell narcotics to latin Americans like Hezbollah. It’s a shame half the maronites support hezbollah and Iran. I think as the U.S.A, it is our duty to stop human rights violations. We can’t just sit and let the world burn. These countries like Iran and Syria must change their ways. Sure ware may be deadly, but I fear in some cases, especially when they provoke it, it might be necessary.

I hope I didn’t commit a sin by saying that war in Iran to free the people and the Christians might be necessary and must happen at one point or another…

Well, killing civilians is something from which the US is not blameless.

Thing is, our President promised people that if he were elected, he would pull out troops out of Iraq and keep the US out of foreign wars. His voters would like to see that promise kept.

Yes, Trump did lie, and I am not happy with that. But look what happened when he made the stupid decision to leave Syria. Those oppressive former Ottomans are back at it attacking ethnic minorities. Now the poor Kurds, one of the more tolerant peoples. We must keep force in the middle east. My family was actually pretty disappointed when he left Syria, because we voted him in to keep Syria and Iran out of Lebanon. We actually think his policy is too weak, but better than what Hillary or Obama would do. It is unfortunate we can’t find a proper Christian candidate with any chance to win an election as conservatism becomes more secular in a last ditch attempt to lure in other Generation Z people. I am one of the few that remain I guess…

Didn’t Jesus come not to bring Peace but the sword? What did he mean by that?

I am saying that among Christians there are people who believe in the mission of the Empire and there are pacifists who do not believe in this mission.

He really thought he could beat Iran but leave Syria?
Wow.

Also, thank you for clarifying what Christ meant there.

War is bloody, war is sad, war is cruel. Our world would be so much better without it. But what can we do when Islamic insurgents like Iran who hate everything about the west (especially our beloved Christ) want us dead, and do terrible things to people or people who claim divinity such as the kim dynasty of North Korea and ban the Bible? I don’t think we can keep the status quo and accept peace. I believe there will be a war one day, and if it is to happen now, so be it. I just pray it is not terribly bloody, and as little casualties as possible happen. I pray the innocent civilians will not be harmed. Just the evil regimes must fall, and the people free.

When he went to withdraw from Syria people on the left went nuts, howling about how his plan For withdrawal was too fast, it was wrong and how it was going to cause some kind of disaster etc. Then when he got new info from intelligence and decided to wait, then the same people said well he lied then. Other presidents get new info or even “evolve” but this one apparently can only lie.

I’ve just accepted the simple fact that he can do no right in the eyes of those who have made up their mind that they don’t like him. Heck we even have people defending and siding with Iran. The hate for our President is REAL.

Empire? I find that a different term. Christ spoke of the Kingdom of God and it being also with- in us. We have the obligation to defend our Nation and our neighbor as well as our selves. Yet, international affairs are a very complex reality. When wealthier Nations ignore the hungry, the poor and the uneducated or take advantage of their resources or seek to offer the people food etc if they start using abortion and artificial birth control – I wonder what empire that might be connected too.
