Wearing a brown scapular?

I checked “The Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel: Catechesis and Ritual” at the article “The Doctrinal Statement on the Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Appendix: Practical Norms for the Scapular Confraternity” which states:

Section 18 (6): The members of the confraternity must at all times devoutly wear the scapular or the medal as a visible sign of their belonging to Mary in the brotherhood of Carmel.

When they’re not the guidelines of the order that owns the devotional, but rather the guidelines of a schismatic group and they differ from the guidelines of the order, then yes, it’s wrong to follow them.
I guess what I’m saying is, while it might not be appropriate to regard such guidelines as “mandated,” and dismiss the new ones as invalid, one cant go wrong (if one chooses) by wearing a pure wool scapular, taking the time to get officially enrolled, preferring a priest (instead of a deacon) to perform the ceremony, following precepts such as reciting the Little Office, aspiring for liberation from purgatory, etc., etc… to name a few examples. None of the new guidelines prohibit following any such devotion. Quite frankly, I find it disturbing that there should be a backlash against anyone who does even when one seems to do so in the most unpretentious and humble manner possible.

It’s okay for a person to choose to wear a wool scapular or choose to say the Little Office.
It’s wrong to say they HAVE to wear a wool scapular or HAVE to say the Little Office.
There’s a difference.

Also, the Carmelites would rather you say LOTH.

No dispute there, sister. It is not wrong to follow the guidelines in it of themseves (in an educated manner), but to promote them as current. Personally, I see little reason for them to be discouraged. It’s kinda like abstaining from meat on ordinary fridays. It is not mandated, but visceral discouragement seems passive aggressive at best.

Thanks for that tid bit. Can you shoot me a link to this please? I have been trying to figure out if (originally) all the hours were required, or just one. This suggests a specific one.
