I’m posting this question for my wife to get some opinions on saying the blessing before the meal at a wedding reception (I’m not sure if this is the 100% right forum, but I thought it would be a good place to start).
Our niece asked my wife to say the blessing before the meal at the reception. My wife was thinking of saying a few sentences about the couple, then saying the traditional grace before eating. The question is does anyone have any suggestions for a good segway from the personal statement to the formal prayer? i.e., concluding the personal stuff, then what before “Bless us, Oh Lord, and these thy gifts which we are about to receive from thy bounty, through Christ, Our Lord. Amen.”
Would the sign of the cross be made at the beginning, or in the middle before grace? Thanks in advance.
