And getting an abortion was once automatic excommunication from the Church. I don’t understand how abortion is women’s rights if half the babies that get aborted/killed are female!!! Where are their rights??? I am woman why should I have the right to kill an innocent life for my own dumb fault of having sex?! The whole point of sex is that it will eventually lead to pregnancy!

Well heaven won’t be so crowded, due to all these people taking innocent life away, there will be lots and lots of babies up there!! I also don’t think the virgin mary likes any woman who gets an abortion! She had to have baby Jesus at 12 years old and she didn’t even have sex!

THANK YOU! And you are right. Sweet relief to read this. Just been all but banned from boards.ie for thinking this. And oh no; sex is for fun. Not procreation. And aboriton is not killing anything as a foetus ins not a child .

Parallel universe?

What’s the point? Have one giant pity party? It’s out of our hands.

Why would you ask such a terrible thing? Your prayers were answered but not in the way that YOU wanted.

1 Peter 1:7

These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith–of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire–may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

Matthew 24:6

You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.”

Reactions today from Archbishop Martin

And it was not a “landslide” victory by any means…

This from the NO side

There were 5,000 Irish abortions last year.

I guess things will stay the same until they change.

How is that for an Irish saying?

I think secular education is teaching a pseudo liberalism to destroy Christian thinking and children are being taught this is inevitable progress…

I hear you. Just the enormity of what has just happened needs full attention. Seeing those healthy young women cheering and revelling because they can now get abortions in Ireland ? Looking totally blissed out,Something terribly wrong there,

“WE”? Sorry , you are way off track for what I am meaning. Simplify? On second thoughts, don’t. Just need to focus on the simplest realities of this now and see what we can salvage in the times ahead. Just now emotions are still running too high;demands that the legisaltion be rushed through and called “Savita’s Law” . An emotional orgy… High on “success”; the kind of zealotry we connect more with football victories than with killing unborn babies. It is the babies who matter, Jharek, for me always . This is about life and death and thus about Jesus Our Dear Lord. Massacre of the Innocents. And those strong misguided young women, healthy, fit, with everything going for them?

Absolutely, I stayed with the long threads on boards .ie and the virulence and hatred of us… And got banned…for being Christian. Although they have no room to talk; at at least 5,000 abortions a year?
But there has to be a way through tobring folk back to Jesus. Has to be. And i look too at the big NO figures and think of good strong loyal Catholics I am privileged to know, Who are raising their children well in faith. Nothing can destroy Jesus. Must sleep now; fighting a mega infection here… referendum allergy!

What has been most appalling to me is that if you watch any of the news items on rte or breaingnews.ie, you will see jubilant young women screaming and shouting in a manner appropriate to a football victory, when this is about aborting babies,

It is extremely hypocritical that the Catholics and others in Ireland react to the legitimate scandals in the church regarding sexual abuse and other things with even a MORE scandalous political action(s), voting in favor of same sex unions and abortion on demand. That is why the internal scandals were so destructive, as to lead people astray.

Even religious instruction in the schools has been made illegal, under the leadership of an atheist prime minister.

Weep for both the unborn and the born babies, and for the scandalous sexual unions that have resulted in many of them.

The church was silent on this referendum? Is that real or fake news?

Not sure what you mean? The referendums are not scandalous to non Catholics. And in Ireland if the choice is these days between faith and family?
The country is as it is because of the abuse scandals, The church is ultimately responsible for all this. For SSM for abortions being allowed
As many say they are happening here already. Last year, 5,000 Irish women aborted babies; either by going to the Uk or by taking abortion pills bought online.
The Catholic church has no voice and no power in Ireland any more. How could it? It has self destroyed
