From what I have heard, it’s a very me-centered approach to overcoming illness. The idea is that when we figure out where we are sinning or lacking faith, we take steps to “allow God to bless us.” He wants to bless us and heal us but cannot until we “let him.” What we put in determines what we receive. God is basically bound and we are basically free; we must free Him to heal or bless us. It’s a form of the New Age Positive Confession model, except that instead of speaking words to change our destiny, our thoughts and attitudes determine our fate. “Thoughts become things,” they say; in this case, those things are physical and mental healings.
While I don’t want to attack anybody’s “ministry” without more information, I would be concerned for your friend. These sorts of organizations sell lots of expensive DVDs, CDs, books, and lectures that contain little more than self-worship, brainwashing, and empty promises.
