I’ve known this for several months, but can finally speak openly about it.
By the Grace of God and generosity of donors, we’re opening a grammar school at our tiny parish.
With Basilian sisters.
It seems that with the closing of schools and parishes, there were a handful Of sisters left with nothing to do.
They approached Father, and he had some donors eager to jump in . . .
The next property over will be leased for us by the donors for the first couple of years, and we’ll have an option to buy. Until a couple of weeks ago, we were looking at fall next year, but today Father was talking about the builiding being gutted over the next two months!
We were initially gong to convert part of the upstairs as a convent, but +Gerald upped the ante, and now we’re gong to have a mother house! ( which also means more sisters). the next property over is already a five bedroom on a massive lot; now it’s joining the mix, too.
The RC bishop is in support of this too–a necessity, as there aren’t close to enough easterns in town to fill the school.
A new church will be part of the building spree, as will a actual hall ( at the moment, our church is converted from an oversized three car garage, while our hall is the house that came with it . . .
And with Father here all the time, instead of spending much time at an RC parish, we’ll have daily Divine Liturgy (a necessity for the sisters to come).
And how e ball got in motion: someone was seeking a priest to come pray with his ill mother, and none woul come. When Father was asked, he simply went . . .
