the way to get her to drop the intellectual laziness demonstrated by her condescending comment to you is every time she proposes doing something or teaching something a certain way, which you know to be wrong, ask her innocently to point out the Vatican II document which justifies the practice or teaching. If she can’t or won’t tell you it means just what previously poster says, she and everybody else is too lazy or ignorant or recalcitrant to study what Vatican II really proclaimed and relies instead on invoking “the Spirit of Vatican II” for every dissent, abuse and heresy they promote.
Exactly…I don’t know how many times I’ve heard reasoning for doing something wrong because it’s in the “Spirit of Vatican II” I’ve even been at a class about Vatican II run by a nun who put up some quotes and said that they should be disregarded because the council was forced to put them in by those who evil voice conservative. She went on to explain how the “Spirit of Vatican II” really leads us to the exactly opposite conclusion than what is in the black and white.

Is there a website that has the documents for all of these councils? I’ve read the Vat. II ones and bits and pieces of Vat I and Trent, but nothing else.
Straight from the horse’s mouth, as it were:

The Holy See

From my experince ‘in the spirit of VAT II’ is just cover for wide liturgical abuse, radical protestant ‘reforms’, the dismantaling of Catholic theological education, and the embracing of that ’ feel good tamberine banging souther bapist style of Christianity’.

Forgive my lack of surfing ability, but where on that site are they located? I can never get around that at that place :o
THANK HEAVEN it’s not just me! I thought I was just being clueless again. :whacky:

If anyone can provide a quick link to the documents, I would be eternally in their debt. Or at least very grateful. 😃

According to Father Benedict Groeschel, if you ever meet the “Spirit of Vatican II”, you should drive a wooden stake through its heart.

I myself have often suspected that the “Spirit of Vatican II” is actually an angel of light.
