West obsessed with Islam - Vatican warns

How as a Bishop could you make a comment like that?

The Catholic religion is the fullness of the truth , and Pope JOHN Just stated a few years back that Christ alone were saved.

Why isnt this bishop excommunicated for saying something like this to the entire world??
 
Hmm, maybe the West is obsessed with Islam because certain quarters of Islam are obsessed with destroying the West. Ya think?

How the bishop can say such a thing is beyond me. You’d think he’d be excommunicated for saying something like that.

Taken in context, the bishop said that all religions, not just Islam, are equally important to consider in ecumenism.
 
I get it now. Someone needs make it standard in journalism education that when one person says something that you do not generalize it to the entire organization.

Case in point: The article should say: Bishop says the West is becoming obsessed with Islam. NOT: The “Vatican” says the West is obsessed with Islam.

Except that this Cardinal is the head of the Pontifical Council for Inter-Religious Dialogue.

Saying what was discussed for part of a meeting in a council in part of the Vatican Bureaucracy is not the same thing as having something that the entire Vatican considers and upholds as policy. While I understand in a sense what the Cardinal is saying, the article is still very misleading because when it says “Vatican”, it makes it seem like whatever these people are saying are some authoritative religious directive.

Its like the article that’s been posted up here: “Vatican says Aliens could exist” (Check the BBC) The information in that article was received from an interview with the director of the Vatican Observatory. That is not the same thing as the Vatican. Its simply bad journalism and not proper.

All of islam is obsessed with destroying the west as their faith commands. Certain quarters of muslims do not know/practice their faith.

A peaceful muslim who wants to coexist as equals is society with non-muslims on an indefinite basis is the same as a Pro-Choice Catholic.
Neither of them are practicing the teachings of their faith.

Excellent point. I tend to get obsessed with the portion of a religion that slams themselves into our buildings and saws off heads of captors with butcher knives.

If ALL of Islam is obsessed with destroying the west then how can certain quarters (which are part of Islam) not practice that aspect of their faith.

So a muslim who wishes no harm on his fellow citizens is the same as a Catholic who thinks its okay to murder unborn? How can that be?
 
If we look at the context, he was saying in terms of priority in dialogue, Islam doesn’t get special attention as if it were more worthy than other religions in such meetings. He wasn’t saying all religions have equal merits or truth.

The RELIGION and its teachings are obsessed. There is a difference between a religion and its followers. Sometimes people who claim to be part of a religion do not practice the tenets of that religion. Such as Catholics who are pro-choice and muslims who want to coexist peacefully and indefinitely. We need more muslims to bastardize their religion into something it is not: a peaceful religion.

It is not his fellow citizens but non-muslims (including those he considers apostates) that orthodox islam teaches a muslim to harm. There are two standards in islam, one for muslims and one for non-muslims.
