I was referring to nitrogen in the soil is depleating, animals population can’t feed everyone and fish schools are less and less if not becoming extient. There’s only so much wood in places one can cut, only so much smog an atmostphere can take. When will the church recognize this over population problem? When I asked my bible teacher who is so old and wise in the faith he said “some how God will provide, God will provide”. People are starving.
Journey, my friend: I will repeat my advice, because you seem like someone who can use it. Clearly, you recognize injustice, which is excellent in this age of lying unfairness. You need to take the indignation you feel in your heart and direct it at the people who are responsible.
Why is the nitrigen depleting? Because of awful farming practices. Honestly, do you think three or four people can really farm 2000 acres well? How long would it take them to pull the weeds in just 100 of those acres? If they began in April, they would not be half done by December. Nothing would be planted.
So, what do these sons of the soil do, starved for labor? They dump pesticide, herbicide, tear out hedge, and create an environment that is totally dependent on the industrial chemicals they apply to boost the yield. Result? Same as with any hothouse flowers: they get addicted to the hothouse, and the natural balance of soil is ruined. This is happening all over the world. Why? Because the farms are starved for men and women laborers. Why? Where do think all the cheap labor of America, China, Africa comes from? The countryside.
Now ask yourself, cui bono?
This industrial runnoff hits our streams, rivers and bays. It kills the fish. I won’t even get into industrial fishing techniques. How many generations had fished the Lake of Gallilee when Christ found St. Peter mending his nets? Why didn’t they run out of fish? It is an inland water, for pity’s sake. Why are we running out of cod in the North Atlantic? What has changed? It isn’t the numner of fishermen, it is the manner of fishing that has changed.
The wood problem is due to people over cutting. That is not a question of too many people, it is a problem of a few people taking more than their share of the world’s wealth.
Let me tell you something. If you think you can solve the problem of injustice by reducing the number of people to the point where there just aren’t enough people to make injustice matter, you’ll never get there through birth control. You’ll need to thin the flock, as shepherds say.
