Protestants refute James with Paul’s writings and Christ’s words that when taken out of context state faith alone saves you. The faith of the woman who touched Christ’s clothing, and centurion made faith an ACT, NOT a profession!Since this fits all of the criteria and makes it to your last point, is that really the only argument Protestants have in their favor of refuting James 2:24-26?
Protestants understand faith as a profession (think creed). Once they believe those words, the profession (without action) saves them until death. Even Paul said we could technically do anything we wanted as we were free from sin’s consequence, BUT just because we could does not mean we should! No sinful state can ever be justified by Paul’s writings.
A profession of faith may breathe life into you by the Holy Spirit. Life in the Spirit will mature faith into action. If no action takes place, has salvation truly come?
