Just a question to start a wholesome discussion among the faithful. Personally, mine is Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” this personally this fills my heart with hope and helps me to get through tough times. 😊
MIne is 1st Cor. 11:23-30

This IS MY Body
This IS MY Blood…WOW!

I thank God he doesn’t store our sins up for some judgement day .

“As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”(Psalm 103:12)

From this morning’s first reading .

“We speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.”

It tells me where to go to get rich .

“Christ in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” (Col 2:3)

It makes me wonder which food I am ready for .

" I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed, you are still not ready. You are still worldly. For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly? Are you not acting like mere humans? " (1 Cor 3{2-3)

Though I didn’t care about it then, I heard Jesus’ words at the Last Supper every Sunday as a child, and they mean a lot to me now. This is my body, this is my blood- no matter from which gospel- just might be my “favorite”.

The true Source of power .

“‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.”

What was the favorite verse of the Church in the Middle Ages ?

A strong contender would have to be Matthew 1:18, which is in the Gospel reading for today.

In the early Bibles most of the pages were just text.

However, each of the Gospel often merited a special full page of beautiful calligraphy and art work at the beginning of each.

Besides the four Gospels there was one other page that also merited special art work and illumination. It was Matthew 1:18 and was called the Incarnation Initial.

Think about the when we profess the Creed each Sunday. When do we honor God with a special bow? When we profess our belief in the Incarnation. Our confidence for all the we believe is based on the dogma that Jesus is truly the God-Man.

One of my favorite Bible pages is from
Canterbury Codex Aureus 750 AD , Incarnation initial Matthew 1:18,

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and on your own intelligence, rely not.

But the LORD answered me, do not say, “I am too young.” To whomever I send you, you shall go; whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you—oracle of the LORD.- Jeremiah 1 7-8

Mat 4:9
“All this I will give you, if you will bow down and worship me.”

Reason: To teach that a out of context quoted Bible can be dangerous

I love the story of Old Testament Joseph. the passage where his brothers come to Egypt to buy food and don’t recognise him. where he insists on them fetching his younger brother Benjamin .
how he continues the pretense and eventually can control his emotion any longer as he reveals himself to them and they are all reconciled with each other.
I believe that Joseph is a type (prophecy ) of Christ being reconciled with his brethern (the Jews ) and Benjamin representing the Christians. Its a beautiful story .
