I agree with you on Avatar its pretty silly. Haven’t seen Cameron’s other films except for Terminator 1&2. I love the Terminators but they do have a lot of immoral stuff in them so I see why you would avoid them.

I am guessing your a fan of the Sherlock Holmes books :).

Clueless on the Dark Knight Rises though, I can’t wait to see that. :bounce:

I hated Avatar - they took an awesome sci-fi concept and turned the whole thing into a fairy tale… As my cyber best friend simply put it - it was Pocahontas with blue people.

Dark Knight was awesome in my opinion though.

Same here. I enjoyed Dark Knight but I wouldn’t want to watch it more than once. I love Batman Begins and whatever the opinion is on Katie Holmes’ acting, I would still watch it again. I’m not sure about the Dark Knight Rises.

I don’t like horror films in general although I will take a glance if friends and family are watching. But I won’t watch The Exorcist. Same goes for the Golden Compass and Pope Joan.

And I’m not motivated to watch Lady in the Water or Juno.

A Clockwork Orange (I saw bits and pieces of this in college one day, and was not enthusiastic about seeing the entire movie – a shame, because I like Malcolm McDowell and enjoyed Kubrtick’s 2001)
Star Trek V – Shatner should NEVER direct. Period.
Any film on the infamous “Video Nasty” list.
Twilight, or any of its sequels
Grave of the Fireflies (I saw it. Once. It’s a gorgeous, achingly beautiful movie, but it is so depressing at the end I can’t bring myself to watch it a second time.)

I’m with you on this - I accidentally saw a few minutes of the Jim Carrey “Grinch” - it wasn’t pleasant. Although I will say, the older (1960s?) half-hour cartoon adaptation of the Grinch was good (“You’re a foul one, Mr. Grinch”, etc). But I have no interest in the new Lorax. And “The Cat in the Hat” looked equally bad as “The Grinch”. And I have a feeling Dr Seuss himself wouldn’t have liked them.

Yes, this one was pretty bad. This is where we get Spock, Kirk, and Bones camping out in Yosemite eating beans and singing campfire songs, right? But it does have one good line near the climax - Kirk saying “What does God need with a starship?!”

It’s funny to see how different peoples tastes are. I’ve now seen The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo 3 times at the theater and plan on buying it when it xoles out on dvd. I love that move, it was my favorite from last year!

Movies I don’t plan on watching:

The Human Centiped
Mirror Mirror (looks so stupid)
Act of Valor (sorry, just not into modern war movies at all)
Anything with Adam Sandler

I wish I could add Breaking Dawn pt 2 to the list, but my mom insists on dragging me to the twilight movie. Oh well, I usually get even by makig her see a movie I know she won’t like, lol.
 
Chick flicks. Seen a few, won’t see them again.
I wish I could unsee Human Centipede. It was predictable, and slow moving up until the end.

Movies have really gone downhill, IMHO. Hollywierd seems to be running out of ideas, so they are remaking good movies and making them painful to watch. I will admit, I did love the Star Trek “reboot”. A Nightmare on Elm Street was a nightmare, Friday the 13th was lame, Fright Night was fair, but lacked the comedy bits of the original. Transformers and G.I Joe were ok, but, I’m not much a fan when they make cartoons into live action movies

I have to agree with you here. I just feel like his humor is really dumb. And many times he overdoes it trying to get a laugh, which just makes the whole thing look more dumb. From experience, I usually get a laugh or two out of the trailers for his movies, but those are usually the only funny parts in the whole movie–not worth sitting through 2 hours of movie for.

I’ll just add a few more that come to the top of my mind.

horror movies
remakes of films
I’ll admit to seeing Brokeback Mountain and Black Swan ONCE each out of curiosity since they got such great reviews… and immediately wished I’d spent my Netflix rental on something else. 😃

I did the same and felt exactly the same way (I also like ‘My beautiful laundrette’ :))
 
That’s easy. Any full-fledged chick flicks, including but not limited to:

-The Vow
-The Notebook
-Ya-Ya Sisterhood
-Sisterhood of The Travelling Pants
-and anything with Katherine Heigl in it (except for “Knocked Up,” because it’s more pro-life than “Juno” was)
