What are the differences between the Eastern Catholic Churches and the Western Catholic?

Well, of course Latin Christianity’s theology and developed traditions aren’t “bad.” The Latin Church certainly produces great saints and mystics. But I don’t think we should lose sight of the fact that they are out-of-place in an eastern Christian community…
Just so. Like I was saying on the “Melkitization” thread, criticizing Latinization doesn’t make one anti-Latin.
Hmm… shouldn’t we acknowledge, though, that there are differences between different forms of Byzantine Christianity? i.e. in its Middle Eastern variety, Greek variety, Slavic variety, etc.?
I think you misread my earlier post. Saying that something is a school of thought doesn’t necessarily mean that it is right:
there’s also another school that says that there can be differences between the thinking of different churches (sui iuris) but only if they are not the same rite. Hence according the second school there can be differences, for example, between the thinking of the Latin Church and the Melkite Church (because they’re not the same rite); but not between the Melkite Church and the UGCC (because they are the same rite).

Certainly, and we see that the Catholic Church has codified that the liturgical norms are established per Church sui iuris (in addition to several liturgical norms within the Latin Church too). That alone is sufficient to have another Church of it’s own laws, so having 14 Catholic churches in the Byzantine tradition allows for that variety.

Absolutely, and even within Slavic Christianity there are differences between the pre-Nikonian and Nikonian usages. These differences include music in the liturgy, specific services that may be of more popular use in one instead of the other, attachment to certain devotions different from the other, as well as the difference in inculturation of that particular “flavor” of the Constantinopolitan tradition.

Aye.

Ah, I see!

It’s a bit weird though.
First, you should know that for many years I was an atheist.I fought Christianity and laughing with Christians for attending the divine liturgy (or Mass in the West).I was about to …take exemption?(Don’t know how it is in english.I mean I wanted to get rid of the religion lesson when I was in high school).
Then,I woke up a morning and all of a sudden I changed!I really don’t know what happened but it was like God spoke to me.I recognized Jesus as our savior and just …believed in God!
That’s how I became Christian. Why I converted into Catholicism?I attended a liturgy of a Roman Catholic Church in Athens and I felt that I was really praised God.I felt more…Christian.Way better than a liturgy of a Orthodox Church.
And there is one more reason (and end my story).Theologically,Catholic doctrines are correct (about Filioque for example) and that counts for me.
👍
Wow! It seem more people from the west are leaning towards East.
