What are you doing to get through the "social distancing" due to COVID-19?

She passed at 2am this morning. I was instructed I’d be called when needed. Very difficult to stay away when I know how my wife is hurting, but through this I do wat I’m asked.

Thanks for the prayers again. It was time. Last I saw her couple days ago she looked like a corpse who just happened to have a pulse…I can only pray she is now seeing God in the beatific vision.

@childinthefaith Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen. Will keep her in my prayers.

Our parish was closed completely yesterday for the next three weeks. Our state now has a stay at home order and our bishop decided to close everything. Our priests even closed our perpetual adoration chapel. We do have one door that we can go in with the use of a code so we are able to go into the church.

The Perpetual Adoration Chapel has been closed since the 13th. That is why we set up daily adoration in the Church, no more than 10 folks at a time, huge building so people are spaced apart.

For ne, not much. I am still working, as construction has not been shut down in California yet. My wife is out of work now so spend a lot more time with her. All that has really changed is my wife is home, we do not go out at all on Sunday like we use to and we do not eat out Saturday night. No Mass or teaching RCIA either of course. It us nice to see soo much less traffic on the freeway. I hope more people work from home after all this virus mess is over.

No one in my home is working, the two young adults have been advised to stay home at least for 2 weeks. That leaves us with 2 oldsters, 2 toddlers, and the 2 young adults, one of which has another medical condition.
My parish paid for Formed.org for everyone, which is a blessing. I just watched Joan of Arc on it; an amazing story and very well acted.

One fun way to while the time at home is to do some scrapbooking, or put together photo albums. All those loose photos can find a home, at last. And discussing the memories, telling stories, all of that goes with it, of course. Everyone in the family can participate. And I don’t just mean computer photo pages – I mean tangible, paper pages and quality bound covers.

Scrapbooking papers make great backgrounds, and one can add stickers, personal artwork, captions in calligraphy if one knows how, using materials on hand, maybe adding little verses – all kinds of creative ideas – making each page special and unique.

I’m a big time scrapbooker. Have been doing it for years.

Glad to hear you enjoyed. Since you “know nothing about” it, here’s some data:
Bourbon is:
  • “Mash Bill” = 51% or more corn for the grain (corn and wheat is used)
  • Aged inside charred white oak barrels, from which it gets a lot of its flavor
  • Was allegedly started by a Baptist minister named “Elijah Craig.” That is also a current brand of bourbon made by I think Buffalo Trace Distillery…it’s not high proof and is smooth.
  • MOST bourbon, and IMO the best ones, come from Kentucky, although that isn’t a requirement to be called “bourbon,” unless you’re a brarhopper like me…
*During Prohibition, was legally made and warehoused for medicinal use.
*The % of alcohol from into the barrel, outta the barrel, and into the bottle, is regulated. I do not recall the numbers…
There’s my little trivia list on bourbon 🙂

Blessings,
There are some neat sights to see in the general Bardstown area of Kentucky, extending to include the Lexington to Louisville corridor: lots of distilleries, wineries, and breweries, plus horse farms, Kentucky Derby track, Louisville Slugger Baseball Museum, a casino, interesting architectural detail in many buildings and churches that give tours, Mary Anne Hadley Pottery Tour, early American history re-enactment plays, great food, and some fantastic Catholic Churches.

Interesting. Theres a candy maker tour near Frankfort too I think.

*Most recent sampling, yesterday, was from a bottle of Calumet Farms (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

Smooth, has a very warm/strong punch.
Ya gotta admit, it’s an attractive bottle as well…a tad pricey ($60), but for a good bourbon, not really I dont think. It ain’t Pappy Van Winkle 23 year price that’s for certain.

Oh, the bottles…😊

They sure know what they are doing when they choose the bottles. Some liquor bottles are too nice to get rid of. I do projects that I can use them for sometimes, but my husband is almost worse than me wanting to keep some of them. 😂

I couldn’t throw that bottle out.

I probably won’t! Have been considering what to use it for after I drain it.

Oh, and FYI + FTR for every1, I just yesterday discovered a spirits company that delivers via FedEx. It’s pricey for the shipping at $15, but they have a decent selection. Site is:
Reserve Bar They seem to carry mostly “regular” liqours, none that are extremely pricey like Pappy van Winkle 23 year. Anyway, during this pandemic, it’s an option if you like a drink or two sometimes. I’ve noticed my consumption increasing since this corona-19 thing, but still, I never ever get “drunk.” “Somewhat buzzed?” Yep. Staggering? Never. We must avoid gluttony…

Oh, and I am not in any way connected to that site I just linked. I simply found it and thought I’d share.

Lots of “pretty bottles” LoL 🙂

One of my daughters sent me a cute idea–she and her boyfriend are doing a “play reading” season. She made up a theatrical poster with the plays in the “season” listed (looks like a real poster!). She re-named her apartment so it sounds like a theater, and she included all kinds of cute instructions about admission to the “theater” e.g., handwashing and sanitizing!

It would be fun for a family to do this, and even more fun to skype it (or whatever) to grandparents or other family members!

Decided what to do with the Calumet bottle. Gonna use the last sip in it to add the last bits of bourbon bottles to create an “infinity bottle” someone mentioned…

Also to pass yet more time, there is a forum for a hobby I located recently…if the internet breaks, have tons of books.
