Why are you calling me an apostate. I believed in God and made Him my Lord long before I even knew about Catholocism. I didn’t turn from anything. I simply accepted the truth as said in the Bible. I wasn’t perfect then and I’m still not perfect now. However I’ve put my sin nature behind me and Christ infront of me. He is my Lord. This is why I am saved. Any other reason to be saved is heresy.

People go out and they make following God into a religion where you must do this and that, silly little rituals that mean nothing. Emphesis is placed on things not important at all when it should be placed on God. Or do you disagree that the emphesis should be placed on God?
Perhaps one should be happy that people are passionate about things. But then I remember the kinds of things people sometimes become passionate about and I shutter. You are wrong on virtually everything you stated. Maybe if you stick around long enough you will learn what the Church teaches…but who knows? Know this, while some of the posters here are not fully educated in the Church and may not be fully equiped to refute all of your foolish charges many are quite able to refute your charges. But we are mostly restrained by the teachings of Jesus and the wisdom of Solomon. Why not see if you can tell why?

You’ve neglected to answer some of my questions.
  1. The man on the cross beside Jesus did not recieve the Eucharist yet Jesus said he would be with Him in Paradise that day. How could this be?
  2. You didn’t read Galations 5 or Collosians 3-4. I’ll add Romans 3:21-31, In particular note verse 22 which says “we are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for anyone who believes no matter who we are” we are saved by faith not by partaking in the Eucharist. You wouldn’t even know about the bread and wine turning into Christ’s actual body if it weren’t for the fact you’d heard it from the Catholic Church.
  3. Was it good that the pope said that people could pay him money to sin? Also you wouldn’t even be reading the bible today if it weren’t for the reformation because back then it was ilegal for it to be in any other language than Latin. Is that good?
Please make sure to answer these three questions.

Concerning John chapter 4. Jesus talks about us drinking living water, not being emersed in it. Therefore He is not talking about baptism.

The whole point of Christ coming was to die for our sins. He was the sacrifice for us. There’s nothing we can do but put our faith in Him. So many places in the Bible say this. Very few talk about communion or baptism by comparison. I am not saying that they are not important, but they’re not essencial for eternal life.

The reason why it was bad for people to partake in communion in an unworthy many was because it represents the convenant between us and God. We’re coming before Him to remember Him. It is not a joke or a time to muck around, it is serious.

But my whole point of this is that so much time is wasted on this kind of philosophical stuff that the real point is missed. God wants our hearts and lives. We are to live for Him and put Him first in everything. I realise you’re a Christian and Christ means something to you but so many others truly believe that because they’ve been baptised as a Catholic and have partaken in the Eucharist that they are saved. But they don’t live their lives for God.

The reason why there is so much division amongst Protestant Churches is that they all read the Bible. People have different interpretations on certain matters but for the most part they’re all in agreement. And you can’t say that there aren’t different ideaologies amongst Catholics. Many have differing opinions too.
Your Question Concerning John chapter 4. Jesus talks about us drinking living water, not being emersed in it. Therefore He is not talking about baptism.

In verse 13 and 14 the verse goes on to say "the water that people drink will not satisfy any more than bread will satisfy you forever. It’s only going to be something that will sustain you for a short time. But whoever continues to drink of the water or anything that the world has to offer will discover that that water will bring them to thirst again.

Look at John 7:37b-38, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water… But this He spoke of the Spirit, those of them who believed in Him were to receive the Spirit and was not yet given for Jesus was not yet glorified. This well / water is one of the images, one of the symbols, one of the signs of the Spirit. Baptism of fire, water, blood, etc…

Your Question–The whole point of Christ coming was to die for our sins. He was the sacrifice for us. There’s nothing we can do but put our faith in Him. So many places in the Bible say this. Very few talk about communion or baptism by comparison. I am not saying that they are not important, but they’re not essencial for eternal life.

Over and over again in scripture Jesus speaks of the Spirit to and include when the Holy Spirit was given to the Apostles with tongues of fire.

Jesus was explicit about His Body and Blood and many a follow could not accept and left yet Jesus unlike many of His other scriptures did not expain. Why bacause there was nothing to explain. It is what It is

Questions answered for: Benu2007 continuation

You are completly correct different interpetations and churches–Christ has and had one Church that was ordained and sanctified by the Holy Spirit by and through Christ and was not year 1400
  1. The man on the cross beside Jesus did not recieve the Eucharist yet Jesus said he would be with Him in Paradise that day. How could this be?
Common sense will also tell you that Jesus had not died or was resurrected yet and was still dying on the cross so no Eucharist.

I hope this answers your question here.
  1. You didn’t read Galations 5 or Collosians 3-4. I’ll add Romans 3:21-31, In particular note verse 22 which says “we are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for anyone who believes no matter who we are” we are saved by faith not by partaking in the Eucharist. .
Yes but you take a verse not the whole scripture

You are saying that by placing faith in God alone saves you but the bible says something elsewhen taken as a whole.
if faith alone saves us, faith without love, why does 1 Corinthians 13:13 say that love is greater than faith? After all, if salvation is the greatest thing we can achieve, and it is by faith alone that we achieve salvation, then faith should be greater than love. But the Bible says differently.

I heard about the Eucharist in the bible.

Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him" (John 6:53–56).

Do not add or deduct anything from this scripture as to do so would be sinful.

Also with the last supper and I think you know what Christ said there.
  1. Was it good that the pope said that people could pay him money to sin?
I will not defend nor champion Man and his actions. Alot of non-Catholics have a problem with the definition of infallability and the Catholic Church. Infallability comes in the area of Sacred Scriptures, Sacred Teachings, and Sacred Traditions. The Church is Christ and as such is infallable. Man a creature made in the image and likeness of God may or may not fall out of grace and as such will deal with that through the Mercy of Christ or the judgement of the Father.
Also you wouldn’t even be reading the bible today if it weren’t for the reformation because back then it was ilegal for it to be in any other language than Latin. Is that good?

I think you add much that you do not understand about early Church history. Bibles were written in several languages at that time to include Greek.
Also without the Catholic Church you may be praising Allah right now (crusades) and Western civilization would not be what it is today. For it is the Catholic Church that built western Civilization as we know it today including America–Columbus–Queen Isabella–Catholic Church.

For one item you say was bad a hundred thousand could be listed as good. Protestants have killed and done more harm with their reformation then the Catholic Church did in the 1500 hundred years prior–Please read history.

The reason why it was bad for people to partake in communion in an unworthy manner was because it represents the convenant between us and God. We’re coming before Him to remember Him.

It is serious because the Eucharist is the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ and Paul understood that so why can’t you?

Just so you I don’t hold 1400 as the year my Church started. It was 33 A.D. The reformation simply called for an end to the corruption in the Church. There is only one Church and that is all who belong to Christ that includes both of us.

Your history is not very good. Millions of people were killed because people stood up against the pope when they tried to preach the gospel before and after the reformation. I know there were cases of protestants doing the same thing but it wasn’t as great. They get no defense from me whatsoever.
The bible was not allowed in English or any other common language. The Wytcliffe (not sure on the spelling) bible was the first English bible and that was around the late 1300s. It was outlawed. That was the kind of stuff that the protestants fought for and you say that was bad. They didn’t even try to split. They were excommunicated.
Also it’s an incredibly common fact that America was colonised by puritans and businessmen. The puritans were fleeing Europe during the early stages of the reformation due to persecution by the pope. Also the Catholic church tried to prevent scientific understanding. Such as Galileo not being allowed to say that everything did not revolve around the Earth. Most of the first great scientists were protestants. Thats when western civilisation really started to thrive. Most peoples concept of God was very vague before the reformation because they weren’t allowed to read the bible for themselves.

When it comes to love and faith they are linked. Paul says in Galations 5:6 “For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus there is no benefit in being circumcised or uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself in love”
So yeah love is more important but you can’t love God without faith and what good is your faith if you don’t love God. When you love God you live for Him. In James it says faith without works is dead - same kind of thing.
But please read those passages that I gave you. It’s always good to read your bible and it’s only 3 and half chapters. And they are really good chapters. Basically they talk about living for Christ and not getting caught up in the law. Those kinds of passages are often ones that Christians neglect and their life shows it. There are plenty more passages like them too. When you read whole passages it also makes it harder for verses to be taken out of context or for there to be much debate around it - not always the case, as in John 6 - but generally speaking. So please read those verse. If you read your bible regularly, which it seems like you do, then just read them when you do your next reading. It’s much better to read passages than verses.

I have answered your questions with facts and you give me opinions?

I have given you scripture and you give me your opinion of what it means not what it says.
I will now give you the early Church Fathers and their thought on the Eucharist–please note the years when written.

The Eucharist is Christ
The Eucharist is the Church
The Eucharist is eternal life for without It you have none.

Ignatius of Antioch

"Take note of those who hold heterodox opinions on the grace of Jesus Christ which has come to us, and see how contrary their opinions are to the mind of God…

“They abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer because they do not confess that the Eucharist is the flesh of our Savior Jesus Christ, flesh which suffered for our sins and which that Father, in his goodness, raised up again. They who deny the gift of God are perishing in their disputes” (Epistle to the Smyrnaeans 6:2; 7:1 [A.D. 110]).

Justin Martyr
"We call this food Eucharist, and no one else is permitted to partake of it, except one who believes our teaching to be true and who has been washed in the washing which is for the remission of sins and for regeneration [baptism] and is thereby living as Christ enjoined.

“For not as common bread nor common drink do we receive these; but since Jesus Christ our Savior was made incarnate by the word of God and had both flesh and blood for our salvation, so too, as we have been taught, the food which has been made into the Eucharist by the Eucharistic prayer set down by him, and by the change of which our blood and flesh is nurtured, is both the flesh and the blood of that incarnated Jesus” (First Apology 66:1-20 [A.D. 148]).

The reformation was a great heresy
Martin Luther was a heretic and King Henry the eight was a murdering, ego, woman hating king that tried to make himself the head of the Catholic Church when he did not get his way. Why even Shakespear and his family despised him.

Sir Thomas Moore was be-headed by King Henry for not bowing before him.

The rest just fell behind them and began splitting and dividing as Jesus said a house divided against itself or a house without a good foundation will do what?

Christopher Columbus did discover America 1492 was the year.

Again your history stinks the puritans came from where to America and what nationality (what country) and what year that should answer who they were being persecuted by.

Your understanding of science and history are also vague.

The modern laws we use today were derived from cannon law,

There are 25 craters on the moon named after 25 Jesuit monks prior to the reformation.

The University structure and the word itself comes from the Catholic Church (Universal). They were the first of higher learning.

I could keep going but for some reason you think the reformation immediately followed the dark ages.

Galeo was given numerous awards and was paid by the Catholic Church for his works, What the Catholic Church insisted on was him confirming his theory to fact before publication. He was never tortured, whipped, but placed on house arrest where he continued his work and was later accepted and published by none other than the Catholic Church.

The Catholic Church right or wrong was Europe and Europe was the Catholic Church.

The Catholic Church fought an aggressor (Islam) for more than 1200 years otherwise you would be in a berka right now.
So I have no idea what you are talking about other than the Spanish inquisition which does not match what the protestants did?

Where did the Catholic Church fight the reformation? For the Catholic Church was the power then and could have easily crushed any rebellion if it so chose. Can you name me the war.

France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, etc… was the Church and England or Germany separate as they were would have been crushed .

But the Church chose then to get out of the government business and rightly so.

The protestant Church so far in this country is becoming a society of death not life.

I wish someone could tell me what I am protesting… 😊
Nothing. If you’re like me you won’t even generally call yourself a protestant.

I t just saddens me how these guys see things like the Eucharist becoming Christ’s flesh and blood as more important than actually living for God by faith in Christ.

Where do you read your history? Have you not heard about the puritans?

Look up the Wytcliffe bible or John Wytcliffe.

If I’m apparently lost then instead of just saying I am and then getting me frustrated why don’t you help me where I’ve gone wrong. If you believe I’m not saved then wouldn’t it be in your heart to show me the way?

we will take this one step at a time.

The Pilgrims or Puritans was a Religious group from England that were suffering religious persecution and death from the Church of England–Protestant/Reformists
Pilgrims, or Pilgrim Fathers, is a name commonly applied to the early settlers of the Plymouth Colony in present-day Plymouth, Massachusetts. Their leadership came from a religious congregation who had fled a volatile political environment in the East Midlands of England for the relative calm of the Netherlands to preserve their religion. Concerned with losing their cultural identity, the group later arranged with English investors to establish a new colony in North America. The colonists faced a lengthy series of challenges, from bureaucracy, impatient investors and internal conflicts to sabotage, storms, disease, and uncertain relations with the indigenous people. The colony, established in 1620, became the second successful English settlement in what was to become the United States of America, the first being Jamestown, Virginia, which was founded in 1607. Their story has become a central theme of the history and culture of the United States.

First of all Martin Luther did get somethings wrong, for example he was an antisemetic. You’re of the belief that Martin Luther is of great importance to my life. He was just a man who made a stand for God but it is Christ who is important. I’m trying to point out the Christian life as stated in the Bible by apostles and you won’t listen.

There was no Protestant Catholic war. The catholics burned protestants as heretics for their faith in Christ. Millions were killed like that.

If the pope today said that if you paid him a certain amount of money then you could commit a certain sin such as hire a prostitute, would you not get upset? If the pope then said you must burn all your English bibles, would you not get upset? This is what was happening during Luther’s day so he protested againgst it. You call him a heretic for doing that? He was a legend for doing that.

For your imformation Christopher Columbus didn’t even arrive in the U.S. He made it to the Carribean and South America but never the states. Besides he still had no role in setting up the constitution. If you would like to know, since you’ve never heard of puritans before, the puritans came from England and the Netherlands around the Early 1600s and set up many major settlements. Many other Protestants fled Europe during that time to live in the safe haven of the U.S.

Just because King Henry the 8th was a protestant doesn’t mean I think he was right. He obviously didn’t live his life for Christ or he wouldn’t have killed Thomas Moore. He became a protestant (i.e. not a Catholic) purely so he could devource his wife. That’s not Christianity at all. Just because someone calls themselves a protestant or a Catholic doesn’t mean they’re a Christian. They actually have to live for Christ. Have you read Galations 5, Colossians 2-3 and Romans 3:21-31 yet?

But why do you have such a problem with Protestants? We except Christ as our Lord and saviour and live by faith. All who do that will be saved. If you have done that then you will be saved if you haven’t then you need to do that. But we are all Christians. That means we are all part of the Church. Denominations make no difference.

Don’t forget to read Galations 5, Colossians 2-3 and Romans 3:21-31.

we will take this one step at a time.
If you had noticed it wasn’t exactly the Catholics who colonised the states. It was businessmen and protestants.

Look I don’t say that all protestants are good and that all Catholcs are bad. What I am saying is that God wants people who will live for Him by faith. You should know this if you’ve read any part of the bible- particularly the New testament.

Here are some of the bibles through the centuries

The Septuagint Version (285 BC) – This was a translation of the Old Testament Hebrew Scriptures into Greek. Probably done in Alexandria.
The Samaritan Pentateuch BC?) – A copy of the Hebrew text done in Samaritan characters.
The Peschito or Syriac (1st or 2nd Century AD) – A common language translation of the entire Bible used in parts of Syria.
The Codex Sinia us(330 AD) – A manuscript that contained the Greek Bible. It was purchased from Russia in 1933 by Great Britain and is now housed in the British Museum.
The Codex Vatican us (340 AD) – this manuscript is currently housed in the Vatican library in Rome. It originally contained the whole Bible
The Vulgate (400 AD) – A Roman Catholic scholar in Bethlehem by the name of Jerome translated the entire Bible into Latin. This Bible became the standard in the Catholic church for well over 1,000 years.
The Codex Alexandrinus (425 AD) – This Bible is another Green translation. It is currently housed in the British museum, complete except 40 leaves.

I understand what you are saying about Latin however Latin was spoken and read by every educated person who could read at the time in the civilized western world.

So what is your point.

Conversion from Latin to English was not a problem till the reformists did not want to follow the Church.

Latin was only spoken by educated people as you say. The majority of people could not speak Latin. Those that could did not preach the bible into English.

From about 500 A.D. onwards it was just latin. But can’t you see my point. The bible only being allowed in one language the majority could not speak is Godly at all. The pope was supposed to be the head of the Church yet he refused people the right to read the bible in their own tongue. He also had the indulgences. How can you say it was wrong for people to protest against that?

Christopher Columbus wasn’t the only exploror. Guys like Jame Cook and Abel Tasman were others. But it’s not so much their religion it was their country that allowed them to do that. Either way I don’t no enough about any of them to say if they were actually Christians. I.e. they gave their life to Christ and lived for Him. The majority of people could not read or write those that went to school knew Latin. Those that did not go to school could not read esspecially a book as complex as the bible. It was taught in the schools as the only schools were Catholic. Most people worked hand to mouth from and of the land and schooling was not important.

Would it surprise you that many of the earlier settler’s in the United States could not read. You worked the land or you starved.
Education was not that important for them.

Yes I have and it does not change the fact of the Eucharist and without the Eucharist there is no life within you. That is what the bible says.

The Eucharist is Christ
Christ is the Eucharist
The Eucharist is the Church
The Church is Christ

This is from Jesus himself and the Apostles and the early Church fathers.

I have given you the scripture without adding or taking anything away from it.

I have given you the Early Church fathers on the subject of the Eucharist.

I will not judge for to judge means I will be judged myself and as a man and sinner I need Mercy for if judged I will surely not have any life within me.

I leave that for the Lord. I can only explain the best I can the way to salvation that was given to the Church. The Church of Christ.

I ask you this,

What are you protesting aganist with the Catholic Church today, for yourself ?

What stops you from understanding the Eucharist?

Show me a church which did not believe the eucharist to be the actual glorified body and blood of christ before the reformation please.

For I think you do understand but pride keeps you from taking that jump.

What others you know and have known may say.

Have you ever been in a Catholic Church?

Have you ever been in a Catholic Church when it was quiet and spoke with Jesus and asked Him for guidance. Prayer you know can be a two way conversation.

Talk to a priest, ask him what is the difference between Catholics and Protestants?

A priest will not bite you I promise as I talk with Ministers and have not been bit yet.
