I’m so very thankful to God for His Divine Love and Mercy.

Also, for my family, especially my dear daughter.

Also, I’m very thankful for finding this site with so many gentle souls. Your kindness and friendship is very special.

Everything, even the stuff I can’t understand and can’t see my way through. I’m glad just to be here.

I give thanks to God daily for one thing or another but I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving.

As a Brit I never fully understood Thanksgiving Day in the US.
Aren’t you celebrating the arrival of a group of Protestants which led to colonisation and to the genocide of native Americans?
Why is that something to celebrate?

I am Thankful for our many Blessings. Even though tomorrow will mark the first anniversary of our last Thanksgiving with my dh, who went to the hospital the day after Thanksgiving and died 12 days before Christmas, I am grateful for all the years we had together.

I am grateful for my family and friends and that I live in a country which celebrates a day to Thank God for our many Blessings.

I’m thankful that our country is not under British rule. 😃

I as a New Zealander am thankful every day, as I tell my family when it is their birthday that everyday is God’s birthday and everyones birthday. Everyday is a day to be thankful for. We don’t have any such day but I didn’t know that it was to commemorate people comming over to America to colonise ( use power and control over other nations to take what was not theirs. I’m afraid the same happened in Scottland and then to New Zealand.

However this is where forgiveness fitts in and Gods forgiveness over those who have forgiven should see that we all need to be thankful for Jesus dieing for our sinns.

That’s OK! I don’t understand Stir-Up Sunday either…which you celebrate Nov 26th. But [SIGN]**Happy Stir-up Sunday anyway. 🙂

As a Brit, never heard of Stir-up Sunday. Having done a Google, I can confirm that no one I know makes their Christmas Pudding themselves.

I think Thanksgiving is a great idea, but not so close to Christmas. I couldn’t stand it.

Do you guys have turkey at Christmas as well?

Well said Maggs!
It is a day for thanking God for His blessings. Even the early settlers to America knew that God’s merciful hand was keeping them alive.

It makes me scratch my head in wonder at how some nonsense gets invented.

Since we are made up of many ethinic backgrounds…Christmas fare varies by family traditions. We usually do Prime Rib, shrimp etc. on Christmas. Sometimes we have Turkey as well, but it is according to each families preference.

I have never considered Thanksgiving Day a day to revel in the fact that many died for our country to begin. That’s just absurd.

I am thankful for -
  • My Faith and My Church
  • A dear husband
  • Wonderful family
  • Amazing friends
  • My cat
  • A good job
  • A lovely home of our own
  • A nice car
  • The ability to provide for us
  • The ability to provide for others
  • The blessing of living in the United States - warts and all
  • Beauty
  • Grace
  • Peace - where ever it may be

Some people have way too much time on their hands I guess. Perhaps they should spend more time learning their history better. 🙂 And maybe a nice course in proper manners wouldn’t hurt either.

SO MUCH! For my new marriage, my strong husband, our baby on the way, my family, his family, friends, opportunities to grow in our faith, our jobs, God’s never-ending mercy, sunny days, freedom, all the Sacraments :D. The list is eternal! 🙂

I’m thankful for a second chance at life, that the Lord sent His Spirit to earth to help us, for my family, a roof over my head and food in my belly. Tim

There are so many things to be thankful for.
On top of all blessings God granted for my family and myself, the single one thing I am most grateful for is the development of a closer relationship with my Lord Jesus. Nothing is more precious than having a more initmate communion with Him.
