I like Raphaela am adopted, but I do know about the nationality of my biological parents. My mother was an Ashkenazi Jewish woman of Polish ancestry and my father was Irish. My husband’s family are Polish and Portugese. Like myself he has Jewish roots but from the Sephardic tradition. We are both members of the Association for Hebrew Catholics - there are quite a few of us out there.

I am Italian/English/Irish/German I was told when I was an evangelical that it was sacreligious to be an Italian and not be Catholic…I guess I took it to heart. 👍

I’m half Mexican: my dad is a first-generation Mexican-American. My grandfather was a naturalized US citizen (came here in his teens), my grandmother remained a Mexican citizen and had to renew her green card yearly.

My other half: Caucasian mutt. My mom is a mix of English, Irish, Scottish, Dutch, and German.

Hi, I was talking to a friend of mine and she commented that, “Only people from Latin America are Catholic”. Then i said,“No i’ve seen many anglo, and african americans who are catholic”. So my question is, to prove a point to her, is what nationallity are you
To help prove your point, the fact that my best friend is both a Vietnamese immigrant/ naturalized US citizen and a very devout Catholic (extremely devoted to the Blessed Mother) just popped into my head. Her entire family is Catholic as well.

Also, at my parish we have several Filipino families, a growing number of African-American families, and even some Arabic families. Due to community demographics, it’s still mostly Irish/Italian/Polish.

I was born in Chicago but both my parents are from Croatia.(Former Yugoslavia). I am first generation and very proud of that.
