Has anyone heard how he is doing? Seemed tired but trying to be upbeat last time I heard him on LOTR a month or so ago.

He helped me in my reversion back to the faith but I can’t listen to him over and over…then it starts (to me) to be too repetitive, Stories are re-told with more flavor, etc. He is a gifted speaker and not that humble in that area;) He did one day say, quickly, that his words are God’s, any good he does, comes from him, etc. which is what everyone has to remember. I also like his humor, he tries not to make the scripture or cathicism dry.

I didn’t like seeing the autographed picture on his website…for me, that site is the only thing I really don’t like, but if it helps some people, fine. The “star” part of it, is unsettling to me. If they sold DVD’s as some shows do, just matter-of-factly, without the “cheese” audio clips and “you can have him in your mailbox” line, maybe I’d feel differently. But being in sales for a while, I guess I just would like to see the typical ploys to sell merchandise not so obvious.
I do hope he feels better though, I’d love to read his autobiography one day and hear his booming voice over the airways again.

Homosexual acts? What do you mean?
What do YOU mean?

Homosexual acts are gravely disordered. Read Paul’s letter to the Romans. He in no uncertain terms condemns such acts as wicked.

I did, and there were several things about that letter that get my attention. The first of which is the fact that Paul wrote both that letter as well as the ones in Corinthians and Timmothy right?

What are your feelings, regarding Father Corapi’s style or approach? Pease be nice; no personal attacks on Father Corapi! If you believe in tolerance and a need to be charitable, then this belief should apply to everyone, including Father Corapi. I don’t want to know what you think about Father Corapi. I want to know what you think about his “approach” or “style”.

Do you believe that one approach is better than another?

My question here, has to do more with a particular style, or approach and not with any particular person. I have used Father Corapi here as an example, because he and his style is fairly well known.

I ask this question, because I believe that the truth remains the truth, regardless of style, approach or, the person “telling the truth”….The truth is the truth!

Your thoughts?

Please tell me there is not about to be an argument over basic Catholic theology? And on the wrong forum thread, too? 😦

“Basic Catholic theology” can be what ever it wants to be. I’m not concerned with that. I do, however, as any “preserver of TRUTH” should, take issue with any theology or teaching that supresses and or counteracts the scriptural facts as preserved within God’s Word itself. And regardless of in what forum such dishonesty takes place, are you suggesting such false statments shouldn’t be challenged at the point of inception?

I’m not going to begin a conversation that doesn’t belong in this thread. But if you’d like to start a new forum thread, perhaps in Moral Theology (since this is just Popular Media), I’m sure you’ll get plenty of replies. 🙂

Funny you should say that, because this thread:forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=207863&highlight=truagape
is still waiting for an answer. I would be more than happy to start a new thread in response to Sailor Kenshin’s post. Maybe this time, the fear of being silenced by the scriptural facts won’t prevent a discussion from being continued.
But just understand, when I see biblical inconsistencies, I will challenge them everytime, regardless of who wrote it, or where it was written.

Gosh, sorry, but BCT is NOT and never has been ‘whatever it wants to be.’

Try again?

PS: And I see that Fadda Corapi is attracting as many DEtractors as always. Truth hurts sometimes. 😉

It may be no coincidence that we also, as a society, prefer our male icons to be weak, soft, and even effiminate. We no longer want John Wayne. We want Dr. Phil
GREAT insight. And Father Corapi is a John Wayne style of priest. Never afraid to speak the truth in the bluntest way possible.

I love Father Corapi’s passion for God and the church, and right now, with American culture turning increasingly secular, Father Corapi is just the kind of priest we need. I wish we had a thousand like him.

And wouldn’t his life story make a great movie?

God bless, Annem

I’ve never seen him in person, but on TV he’s a very dynamic preacher of the TRUTH. I don’t think it’s his style that some people don’t like - it’s what he’s saying. He states the truth IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS. **Homosexuality - wrong. **
I’ve heard him speak on EWTN radio on many occassions. Regarding the topic of “homosexuality,” one of the things that I remember is his general alligence to the "Traditions of men", even at the expense of scripture. I was listening to him speak one morning when he was discussing “homosexuality”. And after a somewhat softened introduction, (an evolution as compared to the wretched rhetoric of some of the early Catholic writings) he then, as expected, inserted the Cathecism’s stance within his discourse. And believe it or not, a part of me was actually comforted. Becasue regardless of how the theology was packaged, the history of the Catholic Church’s well documented divergence from scripture can’t be ignored.

Corabi’s discourse only reiterated the Church’s guilty charge of falsifing the details of scripture; especially when he referenced Sodom and Gommorah. For me, that moment put a virtual face to the many centuries of biblical manipulation regarding this topic. And as evident by the dishonest, oversimplified comment above, (bolded) that guilty charge is just as valid today. So in a sense, Corabi’s directness, is a relief. He makes it easier to identify the target the more scripture is studied. So at least regarding “homosexuality”, I would agree with you Mea Culpa. I too like the fact that he is dynamic and direct. It makes anyone who combats TRUTH as preserved within the context and content of scripture, easier to identify.

The Church, through the sacrament of reconciliation, can gain you forgiveness of your sins. What you’re asking is that the Church declare that your sins are no longer sins. That’s an entirely different thing. As I said before, I will pray for you to the Lord our God.

As will I, and we can be sure Fr. Corapi already is.

Who would play the part?

i am new to the catholic faith, so father corapi caught my attention immediately when i began watching EWTN. his sense of humor captivated me as well as his intense strict delivery of preaching his topic. no messing around. he is a little intimidating. he definitely has a gift of speaking.
there are a few things about him that bother me a little, but i won’t go into them here. some other posts have hit on some of the same things i feel. i think i would feel really afraid if i ever had to make a confession to father corapi! i think he could give you a look and speak in a voice that would probably make you want to run out of the confessional! LOL

i think there is more good to him and i feel he is definitely a benefit to Catholics who have the privilege of hearing him or seeing him.

i am not real sure how i feel about him enjoying the sport of hunting bear.

father benedict groeschel is another one i love to listen to. he is wise and probably has seen and hear about everything.

the last time i saw an ad with father corapi on tv, his face looked heavier and he didn’t look well. i was wondering if he had health problems. i hope not. i wish he and father groeschel could live forever to teach us!

I love Father Corapi. I wish we had thousands of more priests like him. Our society would return to being a moral one in no time.

I wouldn’t have gotten out of a terrible pattern of mortal sin if I’d never started to listen to Father Corapi.

I like Fr. Corapi’s style, but it’s also what he says, not how he says it. If priests with softer voices, gentler “styles” say the same stuff Father Corapi says, and actually SAY the stuff and mean it, that contracepting is wrong, abortion is wrong, etc., we’d all be better off.

I’m sick of our religious leaders pussyfooting around basic truths, skirting issues…allowing people to skip merrily on to Hell because of their omissions in preaching to their congregations…

I think too many religious leaders lack courage and I think there are bishops who punish those who DO have the courage. Shame on them.

Thank you for this topic.
