I think people with same sex attraction need to be open and honest about who they are; most don’t discuss their “sexual struggles” actually. If opposite sex attracted folk get to flaunt their sexuality by holding hands with their partner, talking about them at work, having a picture of them on their desk then same sex attracted people get to do that to.
And the church does speak loud and clear on homosexuality, but until the Church has more to offer than a rant against an “agenda-driven normalization” then LGBT people will be driven away.
