What are your thoughts on John Hagee?

Exactly my point. Obama’s party affiliation doesn’t matter at all–what does matter is that his administration is the most hostile to Christian values in a very long time, if not ever.

While the RCC doesn’t endorse candidates or parties, it does have an obligation to promote Christian values.

I wish more clergy of all denominations would be more aggressive in the public arena.

Back to the original question. My thoughts on Pastor Hagee…

He is a money hungry televangelist that I find pretty entertaining despite his occasional anti-catholic rants.

Oh I understand what you are saying and I agree.However,Hagee was not referring to the issue of abortion. As I said, Hagee seems to preach a lot about his Gospel and not enough about Jesus’ Gospel.

I think some of you have misunderstood me. I agree what you have to say and rightlydivide.
 
I have not heard him more than 5 or 6 times, I enjoy the style of preaching and I have not heard content that concerns me. Seems rather standard, he does sell a lot of books but at least he does not just ask for money. A book is worth something, I am not sure if he jacks his price up to high or not.

He is considered by some fundamentalist, such as John MacArthur, to preach a false gospel such as saying that the Jews do not need Christ to enter into heaven. He does preach much truth, but when sprinkled with lies, that speaks for itself. So unless you are able to discern the truth from the lies, then I suggest one stay away. Billy Graham, Dr. Shuler and others fit into this category as well.

Personally, I would concern myself with knowing the Gospel of Repentance and making sure I have a full understanding and come all alone to the Lord and Savior by dying to self and to be renewed by the living God, who is Jesus Christ who is both Savior and as Lord of your life.

He focuses way too much on the end times. It’s OK to touch on it once in a while or hold discussion on it once or twice, but to make it a focal point…

Plus he’s said some weird things to support his dispensationalist beliefs. Didn’t he have a commercial for his last book on Israel, where he claimed that Jesus never said He was Messiah?

i think he could stand to lose a few meals. while he rails against every one else, he should note, that gluttony is a sin too. Peace 😉

Hagee’s theology seems unsound to me, and his eschatology is wildly speculative and probably wrong. I don’t much care for his politics either, even though I am generally supportive of Israel.

I respect any preacher’s opinion on politics about like I respect Carl Sagan’s, or Sean Penn’s. They’re smart people, but it’s totally outside their area of expertise. Their political opinion is worth no less, and no more, than that of a random person off the street. I don’t want to hear entertainers giving their political opinions at award shows or concerts, and I don’t want to hear a preacher’s political opinions from the pulpit. If they’re invited on a political talk show, that’s different.

conservative libertarian dittos izdaari! 👍 id have to agree with you here. i feel the same way. weather its a preacher, an uppity actor, a rock star, what ever. they are there to entertain, not get preachy with us. i dont go to Mass to hear a political speech, i go to hear and experience the Lord. in the service and the Eucharist. not to hear how eithter the Dems or Reps are bad bad bad. i could care less about either party personally. actors really tee me off, when they attempt to tell me how to live, or feel, when their lives are so screwed up. I’ve watched Pastor Hagee with awe and amusement since he had black hair. He is impossible to catagorize in any fixed denominational setting. He’s eaten up with end times prognostication and would be satisfied if the only books in the Bible were Daniel and Revelation. He’s given to huge “end times” charts and time lines predicting the coming Armageddon. (He loves the white horse in the clouds with the victorious rider.)

He holds the erroneous position that the modern atheist secular country of Isreal is the Isreal of the Bible.

He is very anti-Catholic, a position he has tempered in recent years, particularly after being called down for it during the 2008 presidential elections.

His family sings on his televangelisti extravaganza. He writes about 3 books a week, yells a lot and sweats with alacrity. He’s lost weight in recent years and is probably down to 300# or so from a high of about 375#. He ;loves to slam his podium with the flat of his hand while he yells “Give Him Praise and GLO_REE!”

yes! i had forgotten about the family sing along records! the son could miss a few meals too!😛 i gotta wonder if these yahoos ever had a hungry day in their life? id like to hire the servant they have to cook MY meals. i bet its a feast every night in that house…PRAAAIIIISE THE LAWWWWD! Peace 🙂

I agree 100%. The guy does yell a lot and loves to slam that poor podium. 😃
 
Hagee is an adherent Scofield/Darby ‘dispensationalism’ theology
(little over 100 yrs old, Left behind series etc…see > en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dispensationalism )
