I assume you feel the same way about men’s football and baseball pants?

I’ve always dressed modestly. I wish more women did today. I usually buy my clothes through catalogs. The stores don’t have anything I like.

So ok, all you women and men who claim that wearing jeans/ pants/ slacks/overalls are immodest. What is your reasoning.

This is a serious question.

Let’s keep gym clothes out of the answer

Yeah, but the little girl ended up an alcoholic, LOL Just sayin’

Nah I meant the actress. Sorry for the slight off topic.
Actually (name removed by moderator) can tel you everything you want to know about Laura Ingalls Wilder. Apparently the show was NOTHING like the books.

Sorry people. I’ll shut up now.

I can’t admittedly make the claim that I’ve always dressed modestly. When I was modelling for Catalogues (UK fashion mostly) it was sometimes anything but; yet I can say at the same time, that good people still saw me for what mattered. They weren’t obsessive about what I wore or didn’t.

When I was much younger, I would think back to the idea of Adam and Eve. Suddenly ‘noticing’ that they were unclothed and inappropriate.

Did God even intend people to originally be clothed and so far from Animal kind? Who can say, short of some scriptural ‘implication’ so much further down the line.

I suppose in the end, I don’t place judgement on anyone for their choice of dress because I don’t like/or dislike them any less because of it.

We are beautiful and attractive by design. I’d rather glorify that (within respectful limits depending on environment) than cover myself in shame at all times.

Physical beauty doesn’t last forever. Yet it IS a state we go through. Clearly by the will of God.

No need to defy that by reducing people to a life of coverage - such as that, which Islamic dictatorships have inflicted upon places like Pakistan and Iran.

The image of God, or however you may wish to
see it. Be beautiful. Not ashamed.

We don’t have that in Europe 😂 [rugby and cricket are the equivalents…] Well, it’s not me! Ask any European what he thinks about those pants…Rest assured, the reactions will be worth asking the question. 😅😅😅

as someone who plays both American football and rugby, to call them equivalents is not exactly precise…
just my .02$

Skinny jeans in general are fitted all over, though

The weird/interesting thing is that skinny jeans is practically the only type of jeans most girls wear, that anything else is a passing trend (eg mom jeans). The material is significantly thicker than that of leggings, so the idea that skinny jeans was ever immodest is so foreign to me. I only see it here on caf, which is quite interesting imo.

I find wearing longer shirts with it makes the outfit look frumpy as heck so I just wear normal tops with it. My butt is practically non existent 😂

I searched that last picture. It’s on a website about death and mourning rituals in Portugal. Not sure how that relates to this topic
Thanks for noticing @DeniseNY. Ok, thing is this: In Portugal (and many other countries - see Godfather 1 when Micheal is in Sicily) women entered “lifelong mourning” for a parent, a sibling, a child…Many times around their 40’s, if not earlier. So, I grew up in a society where practically all ladies over 50 dressed exactly like that (entire villages, this is what you’d see on the street. This is what surrounded you). Plus, the “normal wear” wasn’t much different, only in lighter colors and with regional variations. [I have seen photos dating back to the 19th century allowing for a full picture since the invention of photography, they are exactly like this - mourning was ubiquitous, and so was modesty.]

Towards the OP entitled “thoughts on woman dressing modestly”. This gives a very exact feel of what everyday woman’s wear was like, and still is, with the older generation (I still see this every time I go to church.) So I honestly believe it enriches the thread and discussion, illustrating an Ethnology look.

I’ll add, that I am very offended and saddened for Muslim girls having been forbidden the use of “hijab” in French schools.

I’ve read that in the South the more the garment wrinkled the higher quality linen it was. But personally I prefer clothes that lose wrinkles the longer I wear them. 😂

One of them is now on real housewives of hollywood
Not anyone from the main cast. Kim Richards and her sister, Kyle both guested on “Little House” and were later on “The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills” together.
