Sometime soon, the Vatican is expected to release a *moto proprio*, meaning a legal document under the pope’s authority, which will transfer responsibility for an aspect of marriage law from one Vatican office to another. Though it will probably fly below the public radar, the document provides a glimpse into Pope Benedict XVI’s approach to liturgy, meaning how the church celebrates the Mass and its other rituals.

Specifically, Benedict is expected to encourage the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, the Vatican's office for liturgical policy, to focus on promoting what he describes as a “new liturgical movement." The obvious question, of course, is what exactly he means by that.

I have been saying this for quite awhile now, that our biggest troubles comes from the poor Worship to our God. our God has pushed to the side since the changes of the Mass took place. thank you BXVI.

although he insists in keeping the NO, i prefer the return of the EF. ad Orient. the priest must face East. it has been done this way always and should have never changed. there is a reason why it was done this way.

i think he is keeping the NO because it will one day change to more reverence in it. I feel ad Orient will be part of the NO and some Latin as well. I think he is waiting for the right time when many of the liberal bishops start to retire so the backlash isn’t as strong when the changes occur.

I didn’t know they did the “EF” or said the Mass in Latin in 250 AD. Who knew?

Yes, talk about quite literally turning one’s back on God!

Along the same idea, why in the world would we be shaking hands (sign of peace) with one another when we should be focused on the altar? Think of any profound moment in your life. Did you turn away from it to shake someone’s hand? Isn’t it true that when something profound happens, we are silent and alone for that time?? Isn’t it true that we don’t even like a favorite TV show interupted by a ringing phone?

The whole jolly good fellow stuff has the effect of turning us around (literally & figuratively)and taking us away from what is happening. A true Mass takes us further into what is happening with a greater and greater appreciation of Calvary. So, at the Foot of the Cross, would we be shaking hands? God, I hope not!

true. the shake of hands are getting more and more disruptive wiht people moving around to shakes hands everywhere. i personally see no point to that. while the Church is in terrible suffer, we act as if nothing is going on and just go on our own merry way.

I think the whole hand shaking should be removed or atleast be done when Mass first starts before the readings would be good as well. I am telling you before the next Pope (hopefully will be a long while before that) there will be changes comming and it’s for good, as I always say the return to traidition.
