Currently, What’s wrong with the world?, by Chesterton, and Las Moradas, by St. Teresa.

In the queue: Story of a Soul, by St. Therese, Sts. Thomas Aquinas and Francis of Assissi, by Chesterton, Dark nights of the Soul, by St. John of the Cross, The Life of St. Teresa, by St. Teresa, The way of Perfection, by St. Teresa.

Then, there are the books in my wish list at Amazon…
I think you think very similar to me. Your in queue books are very similar to mine with “Story of a Soul”, “Thomas Aquinas”, and “Dark Night of the Soul”. I also plan on reading “Ascent of Mount Carmel” by St. John of the Cross.

I feel guilty- all the rest of you are reading these thick spiritual tomes. :o

I recently finished Connie Willis’s Doomsday Book, which was rather interesting time-travel fic. Currently I’m reading Stephen King’s Everything’s Eventual short story collection, and E.M. Forster’s Howard’s End. I’ve had Dickens’ Pickwick Papers and Jane Austen’s *Northanger Abbey *on my shelf for some time now, those will probably be next.

Um…I try to read the daily Mass readings (although I don’t always remember if I’ve had a stressful day).
Thats OK. I like reading fiction also. I don’t really like most Stephen King books because I think it seems like he drags his books out and they are slow. I did like “The Eyes Of The Dragon” though. I like some Dean Koontz novels like "Watchers and “Sole Survivor”.

I may read the childrens book “A wind in the Door” by Madeline L’Engle.

I am currently reading The DaVinci Hoax, by Carl Olsen and Sandra Miesel, and Understanding The Dead Sea Scrolls, edited by Hershel Shanks. I hope to also finish reading The Rapture: The Endtime Fiction That Leaves Truth Behind, by David Curie as well.

Afte that, I have a couple of books on my nightstand: Letters From Gabriel, by Karen Santorum and The Last Four Things: Heaven, Hell, Purgatory and Judgement, by Fr. Michael Cochen. After that I would like to re-read The Rapture Trap by Paul Thigpen. All this while trying to finish the Bible study *Our Father’s Plan, *a couple of magazines and loose internet articles, and listening to three books on tape (Well, one can’t read ALL the time 🙂 ).
Dear Lord, it’s wonderful that you read so much, but when do you have time to “live?”

I’m also reading The da Vinci Hoax

Antonio 😃

Scott Hahn’s " Swear to God" and I have the new Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child book on hold at the library.

i am reading the diary of st. faustina kowalska, next i will read under angel wings by sister maria antonia. i also plan to read some works of st. teresa of avila and john of the cross and, at some point, fatima, in lucia’s own words by sr. lucia santos, the elder visionary of fatima.

Right now, reading the following books:

“The UV Advantage” which endorses getting some sun, and “The Bad Place” by D.K… - creepy.

Other than that, I generally read natural healing type books.

Read The Ascent of Mount Carmel first. Dark Night of the Soul as a work, explains one of the steps, or processes, in The Ascent of Mount Carmel. It tends to make a little better sense that way, at least that was The Collected Works of St. John of the Cross tells me. If you’re interested in his writings, I recommend this book. It’s got all of his writings in it. From the poems to the treaties, it’s got them all.

I’ve current got several books in process. They are as follows:

FDR’s Folley by Jim Powell
The Decline and Fall of the Roaman Empire Vol 1 by Edward Gibson
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
Ascent of Mount Carmel by St. John of the Cross
God is Near Us by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger
Church History by Fr. John Laux
Triumph: Power and Glory of the Catholic Church by HW Crocker III
Crossroads of Twilight by Robert Jordan

I’m sure I’ve got a few more lying around that I’ll have to start over, because I forgot I had started them. I read a wide variety so I don’t get bored. I’ll finish most of these within the next month or so. In queue are Don Quixote, Arogance, and The Adams-Jefferson Letters.

I’m re-reading “Divine Mercy of my Soul” by St Faustina and my next book will be “The Life of the Blessed Virgin Mary” by Ven. Anne Catherine Emmerich (Soon the be Blessed:clapping: ). I also read Scripture daily, and try to read a daily reflection from “The Rule of St Benedict” and the writings of St John of the Cross.

Jesus, I trust in You!

Like Lurch104, I just finished “Father Elijah, An Apocalypse” – it was a great read. I really enjoyed it. Currently re-reading “Everlasting Man” by Chesterton and trying to catch up on my journals.

Currently reading *Desolation Island * by Patrick O’Brian. Next will be either the same author’s *The Fortune of War * (they are part of the series on which the movie *Master and Commander * was based) or *The Grim Grotto * from Lemony Snicket.

I’m reading “Times of Decision Story of the Counciles” by Msgr J.D. Conway.

Gosh. Where to start? I’m currently reading:

The Last American Man by Elizabeth Gilbert.
Ghost Riders and She Walks These Hills by Sharyn McCrumb.
Why Humanae Vitae Was Right, edited by Janet Smith.
When the Wind Blows by James Patterson.

I think that’s it.

– Mark L. Chance.

I just finished “Surprised by Truth” by Partrick Madrid it truely is a great read. This is for anyone who has a friend or family member who is trying to convert them out of the catholic faith.

I kinda feel bad cuz I don’t neccesarily “read” christian books. I am Catholic. I do read passagesfrom the Bible, but not as much as I should. I have been trying for hte last three years to get through the Diary of Sister Faustina, and boy, I’kll tell ya, it is not an easy read. I haven’t even finished the first section. But for pleasure, I read the Shannara series by Terry Brooks (I highly recomend them) as well as the Dragon Lance series (just started that) I also read Harry Potter (i’ve read each book about 5 times… tells ya how boring it can get here) and I have also read “Disiderata” I cant remember the author, though. But it is a god read for teens to search their faith and find saints they can relate to. I also love the Prove It! series.

I am currently reading Mistress of Mellyn by Victoria Holt, and will be reading…not sure yet though I love to read!

I have thought of reading the Shinarra series. How is it?

I have also read the Harry Potter books several times. Looking forward to the next one.😃

If you like Terry Brooks and Dragon Lance, I’m also a fan of both, I’ll recommend the Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan. He’s my favorite fantasy author.

Hmmm. My husband really liked Eyes of the Dragon. I’ll have to add that to my list.

I LOVED all of the “Wrinkle in Time” books (A Wrinkle in Time, A Wind in the Door, A Swiftly Tilting Planet) when I was younger. I’ve thought about picking up new copies recently- under the pretense of having them for my future children, but really because I want to re-read them. 😉
