I’m between books right now. I just read a book on rosary devotion (can’t remember the title, and my husband has it with him at work) and re-read The Time Traveler’s Wife, which is a bizzare and lovely novel.

I was thinking of buying Rise, Let Us Be On Our Way from work, and I’ll be reading the December issue of First Things. I should read the copy of 19th Century Costume in Detail that my MIL bought me for my birthday, but it’s more of a flip-though book. Also Stardust, by Neil Gaiman, because a co-worker lent it to me.

After that, who knows? Goodness, I love working in a bookstore.

I have always wanted to know more about this group, but it’s kind of hard to have an unbiased opinion. Apparently this author had access to both former angry members and current members and full access to Opus Dei’s workings.**

My current book is “The Politically Incorrect Guide to Science” by Tom Bethell.
 
Pride And Prejudice by Jane Austen

And I’m still working on S. King’s Wolves Of The Calla . I wish it was a lighter book so I could read it in bed! I’d be finished by now. 🙂 But then there’s two more to go in that series.
 
The bio of Mother Angelica. After reading this book, I plan on increasing my monthy donation to EWTN. This nun is amazing and what a fighter against the liberal bishops in this country!!

Mr. Blue by Myles Connolly. This very Catholic novella was originally published in 1928. It has had a profound affect on me. Connolly was a Hollywood Screenwriter and Producer, most famous for his association with the classic films It Happened One Night and State Of The Union. He apparently was also a devout Catholic and this book shows it. The main character J. Blue is a Jazz Age St. Francis. He is the anti-Gatsby. It is 115 pages of dynamite.

A Feast for Crows. George R. R. Martin. Not for kids but a very good Tolkienesque fantasy for adults. (Caution: Language and adult situations).
 
I finally finished Wolves of the Calla , and am now on King’s 6th book in The Dark Tower series, Song of Susannah .

Also still reading Pride and Prejudice , and couldn’t resist starting A Christmas Carol by Dickens.
 
The Years of Rice and Salt, by Kim Stanley Robinson. Excellent alternate history and very interesting so far. Hugely well-researched. After that maybe Vile Bodies by Evelyn Waugh.
 
The last book I read was Ramond Arroyo’s book on Mother Angelica, which is excellant. I am just starting “Ever Ancient
Ever New” by Father Corpai. I have asked my husband to
get me “John Paul the Great” by Peggy Noonan after hearing
her interviewed about it by Raymond Arroyo. 🙂
 
Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides, certainly not a Catholic book, I’m about 1/4 of the way through it and it is holding my attention!
 
I’m reading the “Nican Mopohua” It is the testimony of Juan Diego on his own words about the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe.😉
