Two different translations of Beowulf, both with commentaries and guides.

Now reading Sir Gawain and the Gree Knight, with an excellent introduction. Sir Gawain has just arrived at the castle.

(I love the epic poems!)

The Body in the Library by Agatha Christie

The Romance of the Rose (a 13th c. allegorical romance) by Guillaume de Lorris and Jean de Meun

Just finished “The Lamb’s Supper” by Scott Hahn just starting “The Screwtape Letters” by C.S. Lewis.

One of the most powerful and moving books I have read recently is “Left To Tell”, by Immaculee Ilibagiza. It is her personal account of her life during the Rawandan genocide and how her unrelenting belief in God got her through the living hell that was her life. Have also seen her in person and talked with her briefly. What a gentle, intelligent, and devout person! Its not an “easy” book to read in that what she and her family experienced, in very recent times, was horrific. Won’t say any more - go get the book!:blessyou:

I am currently reading Death on a Friday Afternoon by the late Fr. Richard John Neuhaus :crying:.

The book centers on the Seven Last Words of Jesus. It is an incredible book. I read it a couple of years ago, but, I decided to incorporate this as part of my Lenten practice. I am also reading a book about the characters of the Passion by the late Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen and I am slowly reading the Stations of the Cross that Pope Benedict XVI wrote back in 2005.

I am just about finished with “Acedia & Me” by Kathleen Norris

I am re-reading A Thousand Splendid Suns. sobs Sad book…

I still think, though, that The Kite Runner was one of the best books I’ve ever read.

Anyways, after that I’ll be moving on to some new Holocaust books I acquired, one about Oskar Schindler, one about his wife, and another. 😊 Sorry, I read so much on the Holocaust you could almost say I study it. 🤷

Fancy meeting you here!
The Kite Runner was recommended (DVD) to me recently; we bought Fireproof, will borrow Kite Runner from library. Daughter brought home Wild Child, Waiting Mom by Karilee Hayden, and I’ve started reading it.

I read both of those books a few years back- I couldn’t put them down! Both were very good, but yes, sad.

“The Little World of Don Camillo” by Giovanni Guareschi and “The Confessions of St. Augustine”

I have started re-reading some of the required or suggested reading in school. I have become a true fan of some authors that I had previously read just for a grade. Mark Twain comes to mind as well as many others.

A common miracle by Bob Grenier. A Calvary Chapel Pastor
A great book on how God can use anyone for His purpose

Read through Rome Sweet Home again (3rd time). I just enjoy the book enough to read it periodically. I’m now re-reading The Lamb’s Supper as well as Padre Pio: The True Story by Ruffin. As always, the Bible and the CCC.

Wild Child/Waiting Mom was one which was very hard to put down; it was well written and relevant to today’s problems of drug abuse, alcohol and tobacco abuse, domestic violence and other woes in the world today. It may push me to help organize a local Right-to-Life chapter. Our daughter brought it home for me to read. The author/Prodigal Daughter was actually a 40+ year old classmate of hers at college and gave out thirty-some complementary copies of the book to the class! It may be somewhat Wesleyan oriented, having a little bit to do with Wheaton College, but is quite Christian oriented also. Wonderful reading! *
