kimaz- I have read “The Confessions of St. Augustine” foreword by: Warren. W. Wiersbe.
I’m reading this translation, pretty good as far as I can tell…the book itself is indescribably good…don’t know what took me so long to pick it up and read it.kimaz- I have read “The Confessions of St. Augustine” foreword by: Warren. W. Wiersbe.
I read “The Hidden Persuaders”, by Vance Packard :thumbsup:thirty years after it was recommended to me. It is never too late!I’m reading this translation, pretty good as far as I can tell…the book itself is indescribably good…don’t know what took me so long to pick it up and read it.
As long as you eventually read it…that’s what counts, right?.I read “The Hidden Persuaders”, by Vance Packard :thumbsup:thirty years after it was recommended to me. It is never too late!
Good book but the movie ruined it for me. If one sees the movies first they are polluted with pre-loaded imagery that renders the great writing inert (IMHO). If you haven’t seen the movie I envy you. It will be a great read. The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald (part of the Big Read program, which many communities around here are doing).
I’ve seen the movie, but only once, and it was a really long time ago, so I don’t remember it.Good book but the movie ruined it for me. Then you’re in for a treat.I’ve seen the movie, but only once, and it was a really long time ago, so I don’t remember it.
I read this book a few years ago. I agree: “Wonderful book!”I am about halfway thru “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini. Wonderful book!

The Hidden Persuaders… Merchants through time have had their sales pitches but this book, written in the 1960’s told of the latest and greatest ways to dupe a shopper into buying something that may not have been beneficial, affordable or of good quality. Just make it look good, place it appealingly on a shelf and they will buy it. I shortchange the book and author. We bought the Gandhi DVD. It was terrific and so was Fireproof. As long as you eventually read it…that’s what counts, right?.
