Has anyone read the book called 90 Minutes In Heaven? I dont have the book with me in here handy to know what the authors name is. I bought it today at Half Price Books. Right now though I am currently reading High On Arrival by Mackenzie Philips.
I have. The author’s name is Don Piper who is a Baptist Minister

Have you read it? I saw it in our Catholic Book store and thought maybe Half Price Books might have it cheaper and I got it for $3.00. If you have read it, What did you think of it?
My sister’s friend loaned it to her actually and she loaned the book to me. I basically had a month or two to read the book but I was done reading it in 4 day’s (laughs). What did I think? Interesting and Inspiring. 👍 but remember that’s just my opinion. 😉

Just finished The Samurai’s Garden. Will be reading Jane Eyre next.

Great American Trials: 201 compelling Court Room Dramas by Edward Knappman

God bless

The purpose driven life by Rick Warren. It’s really a beautiful book. Very inspiring! It helps you get closer to god.

I cant read that book again. It caused my anxiety disorder to kick in and I was scared. I felt like I was doomed for hell. My husband told me not to read it again.

Thank you. Finally someone who answers me. I will look to reading that book after I read the book I am reading now which is High On Arrival by Mackenzie Philips and then Losing it by Valerie Bertinelli. Now if I get my hands on the Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi book I will read that one and then the 90 Minutes In heaven. Also I am looking for Valerie Bertinelli’s book called Finding it. I also have my Cindi McMenamin books as well as my Joyce Meyer, Joel Olsteen, and my Kennedy and Beatles books.I have heaps of books I need to read and only a lifetime to do it in!

I’ve read this book also. It was good but I wouldn’t say it was “very inspiring” If you go to the Search and type in “The Purpose Driven Life” there are a great many deal of people that say that this book isn’t very Catholic at all. This blog explains why this book is un-Catholic:

However, I have read a great deal of many “spiritual books” by non-Catholic authors and like you said scarlet0906 that “The purpose driven life” helped you get closer to God they have helped me get closer to God and my Catholic faith.

Still reading High On Arrival by Mackenzie Phillips. That girl grew up in utter turmoil. It is really sad that you hear about a 10 year old girl getting drugs from her father like he would be giving her vitamins. Sad that she had to go through so much. Shame there werent stricter rules back then on child protection. She could have been taken away from that and lived with a family that would have loved her for herself and not for drugs or used as a sex toy like her father and several other men did. Makes you feel the pain that she endured. I love you Mackenzie and am praying for you.

Sounds sad. Is the book based on a true story?

I’m reading “To be Slave” by: Julius Lester.

Yes it is. It is based on her life with her Dad who was John Phillips who was in the 60-70’s band The Mama’s and the Papa’s. Read it if you can find it.

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas… If I don’t start reading it now, I will never finish it!

*Communism: A Very Short Introduction *by Leslie Holmes

God bless

Dear and Glorious Physician, by Taylor Caldwell. I’ve read it so many times over the years that my ancient copy (when I bought it, paperbacks were $1.95! ) is literally falling apart. It’s a fictionalised account of the life of St Luke, with loads of incredibly accurate and realistic 1st century historical detail. It was written a good fifty years ago, I believe, so its style is a little ponderous, but the story of St Luke’s search for the ‘Unknown God,’ that leads him finally to Our Lord, is amazing. And the last chapter is so moving I defy anyone to read it without coming away crying tears of both sorrow and joy.
