“The Best & the Brightest” by David Halberstram. It’s about how we got into the Vietnam War. The mindset that led to our involvement started way back after WW2. The way the author traces the development of ideas & events is chilling- I can see why this book got a Pulitzer.

I’m reading “The Amateur” by Klein. So far much partisan screed.

I heard on townhall magazine and thayrone x that he had taped interviews with 200+ of his associates family, friends, and colleagues. Does that make the book too convoluted or what?

Shalom
God bless

Why Does the World Exist? : An Existential Detective Story by Jim Holt.

No, not too convoluted. Actually more balanced than I expected.

Reading “Implosion: Can America Recover from It’s Economic & Spiritual Challenges in Time?”

Joel C. Rosenberg’s book is better than I expected, but there are some theological issues.

I’m reading a book called The Fallen by Thomas insert long last name. It’s about fallen angels and the Nephilim from Biblical lore. So far I’m okay with it because God is mentioned in only the most abstract way and I don’t mind when people write silly stories about angels. 😛

We’ll see how I feel later on in the book.

Usually I don’t mind stories of this sort as long as God is presented as the big guy above who is allowing things to happen but not directly ORDERING them.

We listened to a Lee Child novel while traveling last week end. Jack Reacher is the main character in this series who single handedly outsmarts every bad guy and dumb cop!
Father Zuhlsdorf was reading one of Lee Child’s books during a flight, per a photo on his website. That is how I learned of Lee Child.

I just finished the prologue for the final Wheel of Time book, which comes out in January. It is pretty good, and I am looking forward to the book release.

I’m reading “Unintended Consequences: Why Everything You’ve Been Told about the Economy is Wrong” by Edward Conrad

Finished “Dead Heat” by Joel C. Rosenberg and now reading “The Last Imam”

I just finished reading Chesterton’s ‘The Man Who Was Thursday’. What a remarkable book, it is hard to find words really to praise it adequately or even to describe it. I am not sure I have fully absorbed its meaning, but it gave me much food for thought.

CS Lewis’ The Weight of Glory. Only read one section so far and it is great stuff. Lewis is such a great writer and thinker.
