LukeSr. I’m just wondering have you read “33 Days to Morning Glory” by: Fr. Michael E. Gaitley, MIC?

I’m asking and curious to know because you mentioned reading well actually re-reading St. Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort’s “True Devotion to Mary”

I haven’t read the book, “33 Days to Morning Glory” but I have read “True Devotion to Mary” and “The Secret of the Rosary”

If you or anyone for that matter read, “33 Days to Morning Glory” can you please tell me/us about it?

I haven’t read the book, “33 Days to Morning Glory” but I have read “True Devotion to Mary” and “The Secret of the Rosary”

@goforgoal…I didn’t read it either…I did the preparation the old fashioned way. Whatever version suits you is probably fine…I just wanted to say that I made the total consecration last February and it has changed my life. It’s been a process of discovery, discipline, and diligence but don’t give up as so many do! Quoting from The Secret of Mary, “there are but a few souls that enter into the spirit of this devotion and go beyond its exterior practices.” St Louis was right, the Garden Enclosed is there for those who entreat the Holy Spirit and persevere. Might I also recommend a video by Fr. Hugh Gillespie, SMM who thoroughly explains the Secret of Mary in easy to understand language. Also called “The Secret of Mary.”
 
Conceived Without Sin by Bud MacFarlane, Jr. Can’t say I’m overly impressed so far.
 
I am thinking of getting a book called “Warm Bodies”.

It is a zombie love story, that I can relate to.

The movie comes out Feb. 1.

Just finished reading The Von Erichs: A Family Album. It’s about the tragedy and triumphs of of Wrestlings First Family. Tells about Fritz and Doris Von Erich started their journey together and had their first son Jackie accidentally getting electrocuted and falling face first into a puddle of melted snow and drowning at the age of 7. They had 5 other sons, Kevin Kerry, David, Mike and Chris. All but one is living today with his mother in Hawaii. David was wrestling in Japan and had an intestinal infection and was kicked or punched on the abdomen and was found in his hotel room on the floor passed away. Mike got a case of Toxic Shock Syndrome and it messed up his mental state and he was found in a sleeping bag on the families 500 acres in a wooded area. He committed suicide. Chris, known for being a rather small guy at 5’5" tall. He and Mike were best friends and he missed his brother so much that he shot himself and committed suicide as well. Kerri then was the next on line. Alot of bad things happened to him as well and he commuted suicide like 2 of his brothers did. Fritz, the father got cancer and passed away. Kevin is the sole survivor as with his mother, Doris and they live in Hawaii. Without their faith in God, they wouldn’t have been able to face all of these tragedies. Kevin has 2 sons Ross and Marshall who are walking I’m their grandfather and fathers footsteps.
Rest In Peace, Jackie, David, Kerry, Mike, Chris and Fritz.

Next book will be Steve Williams: How Dr.Death Became Dr. Life.
 
I’m trying to carve out the time to read more actual books and spend less time reading websites (present company excepted of course), so I’ll be using this thread to track what I read in 2013 and keep meself honest.

Just finished “Jiu-Jitsu in the South Zone 1997 - 2008” by Roberto Pedreira - (History of the development of modern Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Rio de Janeiro) and “Jesus of Nazareth: The Infancy Narratives” by our Pope (slim book packed full of theological insights - like the possibility that the Blessed Mary was one of Luke’s sources, based on his reports of what she was thinking)

Currently reading “Keep the Aspidistra Flying” by George Orwell (both funny, and interesting for a strong anti-abortion theme); “Saber’s Edge: A Combat Medic in Ramadi” (I was a medic in the army, and the author frequently refers to how his Catholic Faith supports him during his tour of duty) by Thomas Middleton; “The Virtue Driven Life” by Father Benedict Groeschel (gives you lots to think about in terms of how a more virtuous life could be lived); and just started “Les Miserables,” which I’m enjoying a lot. I like to read several things at once.
