Yes, I’m sure that Jesus would separate children from their parents, put them in cages, and then deport them. Especially if children were disabled. As far as coming here “illegally”, most didn’t. They presented themselves at the border for asylum. Even if they came here illegally, that is a misdemeanor. Should children in our country be separated from their parents for misdemeanors. The Church should be at the border protecting refugee children like scripture tells us to do. What you do to the least of these, you do to ME! Jesus said that!

Petitions are checked by the government against valid ID number.

Fakes get easily filtered.

Yeah, I sign petitions. The government would be able to filter 80% fakes and still take things forward, those petitions also have champions tending to take things forward. Petitions can make a government fall in some countries, there’s a lot of security and screening going into them.

And you can still sign symbolically as a foreign citizen wanting to state his opinion.

The question is whether I should, not whether I can.

This is a moral decision for aussies to wrestle with and I don’t think expressing my outrage based on one side of the story is appropriate.

I prefer not being a ‘tool’ in someone’s viral marketing campaign.

'It is a false exegesis to use the word of God to promote migration. God never wanted these heartbreaks
-Cardinal Sarah
Jesus also never said it’s okay to disrespect a nation’s sovereignty and make a mockery of the immigration system. Again, it sucks that that family is going through that. They will be in my prayers, but to expect the taxpayers to pay for them when the home country can barely even help their own people is absurd.
