I don’t either. I said that in jest as someone called the “extra” Confiteor before people’s communion an abuse of the 1962 Missal.I hope not. I don’t see anything wrong with it.

I agree. I accept that the Novus Ordo is valid, but, in my opinion, when compared with the TLM, it waters down too much of the Faith.I would remove the Novus, and everything that is contingent upon it.
Abrogate it.
But that’s just me.![]()
Abolish it completely and start from scratch.Assuming the NO is here to stay for now as the Pope has indicated, what changes, if any, would you make if you were in a position to do so ?
One I would make is to forbid anouncements during the collection.
My parish priests say the NO with reverence, but during the collection, the lectors make anouncements from the bulletin. I’ve noticed it at other NO parishes as well. I feel it takes the faithfuls’ attention away from the mass itself.
I do not have a problem with “America the Beautiful” as the recessional hymn. The Mass is over at that point, and the song does mention God. It is appropriate because of Veterans’ Day. It is appropriate to honour the men who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country so that we have the freedom to worship God.Just tonight, for the first time that I can remember, the dismissal hymn was “America the Beautiful.” How secular can you get?
Now that song is Ok at high school or rallies of one sort or another but…at Mass?![]()

I don’t disagree with you about its being used as a hymn, if that’s what its intent is.I do not have a problem with “America the Beautiful” as the recessional hymn. It, together with the melody, does have a majestic quality to it.O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov’d homes and the war’s desolation;
Blest with vict’ry and peace, may the heav’n-rescued land
Praise the Pow’r that hath made and preserv’d us as a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause. it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
I agree with you about the 4th verse of the Star Spangled Banner. However, I would not like to hear that in church because it is impossible for most people to sing. It is butchered at just about every sporting event. Most people just don’t have the range to sing it properly.I don’t disagree with you about its being used as a hymn, if that’s what its intent is.
By the same token, would you consider the 4th verse of the Star Spangled Banner appropriate as a hymn?

That’s why you need a loud organ to drown out the bad voices. I know I am less self-conscious when I hear one. I even hum when I don’t know the words.I agree with you about the 4th verse of the Star Spangled Banner. While I won’t say the OF is perfect, isn’t that a bit strong accusation to make?If you’re a champion of the Conciliar Church, then of course, you would find the NO ‘service’ perfect… however, it’s basically a Protestant service… better to err on the side of caution and avoid it at all costs… very strong evidence that it’s invalid and illicit and you’re participating in idolatry… that cracker is not the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ…
