I’ve heard a lot about people claiming that Jesus, in all likelihood, was a much darker complexion than He is typically portrayed do to the region in which he was born etc. Is there a final answer on this?
Yeah that’s what I thought. Crazy to try and re-picture Him.Brown. I forget right now which Saint it was, but one in particular had seen Jesus “as He was in life” and described Him as being “dark skinned like the people of His homeland”.
Of course it doesn’t make a difference. But its obviously highly interesting from a Historical standpoint. We don’t know and, frankly, it makes no difference.
I would like more info about this (the witness Saint) if anyone can find it.Brown. I forget right now which Saint it was, but one in particular had seen Jesus “as He was in life” and described Him as being “dark skinned like the people of His homeland”.
Just to point out a fact there are many dark skinned Middle Eastern people and there are many light skinned Middle Eastern people there isn’t a single phenotype for the region. My honest opinion is not so much how Jesus looks or looked but who Jesus is to me the message is way more important. I have a Saudi friend who has a mother from Yemen and is of Jewish descent by his mother and I asked him if he was darker or lighter than most Saudis he informed me he was in fact darker. I have naturally reddish colored skin but I do tan I am darker when I go out in the Sun. But like I said ultimately I don’t think it mattersI’ve heard a lot about people claiming that Jesus, in all likelihood, was a much darker complexion than He is typically portrayed do to the region in which he was born etc. Is there a final answer on this?
I really want to see what He looked like. Almost as much as I want to know if aliens exist or not lolWe don’t know, as He took His skin to Heaven with the rest of Him.
Yes, he lived in the Middle East, but to this day, from Egypt to Iran there are those with white skin.
When we see Him we will not see His original self, but His glorified or resurrectional body.

I empathize, (about HIM not aliensI really want to see what He looked like. Almost as much as I want to know if aliens exist or not lol![]()
To me, Jesus looks like whomever he speaks to, like Mary as well.We don’t know, as He took His skin to Heaven with the rest of Him.

Since you put it that wayI know guys, I knew this point was going to be raised by a bunch of people. It has nothing to do with racism. I know we live in a hyper-sensitive time with regards to political racial correctness, but it should go without saying that the message is what is most important along with what He did for us. Its a historical/sociological curiosity.
Definition of RUDDY
I have seen Jewish people with each of those characteristics. What’s more, most of today’s Jews that I can name (or have known) … my college roommate for a while was a red-haired Jewish fellow (non-practicing at that time … but I digress) - would definitely be considered more “white” (per race) – than – anything else.1: having a healthy reddish color
2 : red, reddish
Shall we agree then that “white” is a possibility? This is post-David but pre-Jesus per history.Lamentations 4:7 Brighter than snow were her princes, whiter than milk, More ruddy than coral, more precious than sapphire.

I think I saw that image on TV where someone constructed a “might’ve” from … was it the shroud of Turin as a template … then other data? Here’s another hypothetical image of what Jesus might have looked like based on what a Jew in 1st century Palestine might have looked like. He has short hair, which Jesus probably did as well.
